A Texas woman went to vote early and ended up having to explain her disability to a stranger who apparently believed he knew better than she did. The man warned her about a $500 fine and questioned whether she should be driving, all because he believed she didn’t “look” disabled.
The woman, who shared the encounter on TikTok as @msblinggqueen, said it happened at Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas. According to her caption, she had arrived to vote early when the man confronted her about not displaying a disability parking placard.
“$500 fine,” the man tells her in the video. “So why are you telling me that?” she asks. “Because I don’t see a sticker,” he replies.
The woman explains that her car has temporary tags because it is new, but her permanent registration and plates are designated for disabled parking. She tells him that law enforcement can verify her registration, but the man continues pointing to the temporary tag.
“I just notified you it’s a $500 fine,” he says.
The exchange takes another turn when the man says he is handicapped, prompting the woman to explain that she is disabled, too, and that she served in the Marine Corps.
She identifies her military occupational specialty as 7041, Aviation Operations Specialist, and says she is 100% disabled. Even after the two discuss their military service, however, the man questions whether she should be driving.
“You shouldn’t be driving,” he tells her.
Her response is understandably sharp. She points out that he has no way of knowing her disability simply by looking at her and reminds him that he is not a police officer.
The woman also says in her caption that she showed the recording to a Katy ISD police officer on site, who then went to address the situation. She stressed that her disability is documented and that a missing window placard does not mean someone is not disabled.
Internet Reacts to Early Voting Disabled Parking Confrontation in Texas

The video sparked a wave of reactions in the comments. One commenter wrote, “Some people just can’t mind their own business.” Another said, “yall answer to them tew murch.” A third wrote, “You don’t owe him an explanation!” while a fourth said, “He was mad that your car was nicer than his!”
More commenters weighed in on how the exchange played out. One person wrote, “The fact that he realized he was wrong but his ego was too big to apologize smh” Another commenter wrote, “Not him temporarily changing his tone after hearing that you served. It was never about the parking spot. It bothered him that a black woman parked there, and it bothered him even more to hear that a black woman served in the Marines like he did.”
A final comment read, “The audacity of people!!!! Ugh, love how you handled yourself and thank you for your service!”
Early voting for the November 3 election runs October 19 through October 30, and Tompkins High School is one of the Fort Bend County locations.
