A couponer in Indiana shared a video on TikTok of her clashing with a Walgreens employee after the cashier refused to ring up 5 separate transactions.
TikTok user Itsyagirlniecy, Niecy, posted the confrontation online, with the caption: “My experience at Walgreens on Bluffton Road left me taking my money elsewhere. An employee refused to ring me out, and I wasn’t given a reason. I came to shop and save—being treated with respect should be included!”
In her TikTok video, Niecy starts off really distraught about her experience. “What’s wrong with these Walgreens in Fort Wayne?” She then shows the interaction she had with a Walgreens cashier, who says, “Well, I only do two separate transactions. I don’t do five different transactions.”
Being a couponer, Niecy explains that she has to buy some of the products separately “for the deal.” The cashier shakes her head, “We don’t do that.” Niecy argues that she does it “all the time.” The cashier points to another employee, telling Neicy she can get someone else to do it. “I don’t do it,” she says because she doesn’t do “50 separate transactions.”
Niecy is dumbfounded trying to wrap her head around this seemingly bizarre rule. She then speaks to a Walgreens manager who hears her out. He apologizes, telling Niecy, “That’s something that I’m gonna talk to her about.” He offers to have another cashier ring her up the way she wants so that her coupons can be used.
To end, Niecy claims she is “boycotting” that Walgreens until the company addresses the problem. “Until then, my dollars are going somewhere else.”
Viewers drag the Walgreens cashier online
Many of Niecy’s viewers on TikTok were in support of her, insisting that the cashier should have rang up her items because ultimately it was her job. “Isn’t that what she gets paid for?” one TikTok user asked, and other variations of the same sentiment.
Another commenter speculated that it had nothing to do with some unheard of policy. “It’s not that she can’t, it’s that she doesn’t want to.”
Several comments backed this up, one of which was from a user claiming to be a Walgreens employee. “I’ve worked for Walgreens for about 4 years now. We are not supposed to limit transactions!!!! That is totally wrong.”
One viewer placed the blame on Niecy and took the cashier’s side. “Okay, why do you need to do 5 different transactions and hold the line up,” they asked. They accused Niecy of starting problems to make Walgreens “look bad.” However, in her TikTok video, no one was behind her.
To end, Niecy claims she is “boycotting” that Walgreens until the company addresses the problem. “Until then, my dollars are going somewhere else.”
