The next iteration of in theย Call of Duty franchise,ย Black Ops 4, is due out in just a few weeks. If you need to devour every last bit of media out there surrounding this hyped release, then developer Treyarch has a surprise for you – aย Black Ops 4 companion comic series is releasing, and the first few issues are out now. Even better, it’s totally free to download. Treyarch announced the news earlier today on their Twitter:

Each of the ten issue run will spotlight one of the ten multiplayer specialists (the series’ form of classes) that players can choose from inย Black Ops 4. The three issues that are available now focus on Ruin, Prophet, and Crash. It seems likely that the other seven issues will release beforeย Black Ops 4 releases on October 12.
Althoughย Call of Duty games are sometimes called out for being too similar to one another, this year’s release is attempting some dramatically new things. The cinematic single-player mode that was a hallmark of the series for years is gone in order forย Black Ops 4 to focus more on its other modes. Obviously, traditional multiplayer is the bread-and-butter ofย Call of Duty, with a beefed up Zombies mode taking the place of single player and the all new Blackout mode attempting to steal a piece of the pie currently owned by battle royale giantsย Fortnite andย PUBG.
