After teasing generation 4 Pokemon last week in a short teaser trailer, Niantic has let Sinnoh Pokemon loose in Pokemon Go. Fans will recognize the new wave of Pokemon from the Diamond, Pearl and Platinum DS games. Niantic provided a short trailer with the announcement which can be viewed below.

Open your eyes to an exciting new world in Pokémon GO!

Generation 4 will be a staggered release much like how generation 3 was handled. This means that right now, only a handful of Pokemon from the Sinnoh region are available to catch, with the rest being implemented in the weeks to come. New Pokemon shown in the trailer include, Chimchar, Turtwig and Piplup with their respective evolutions, Munchlax, Mamoswine, Shellos, Gastrodon, Glaceon, Leafeon, Pachirisu, Garchomp, Lucario, Buneary, Bidoof, and Starly and many more.

These new Pokemon are available through catching them in the wild, hatching them from eggs, and battling in raid battles. There’s still a lot for trainers to discover with this new update, including how Eevee will be evolved into Glaceon and Leafeon. Surprisingly, Pokemon from previous generations that gain additional evolutions in generation 4, such as Magmar and Murkrow,  are not able to be evolved yet. It’s an exciting time for Pokemon Go trainers with tons of new additions and changes coming with this update.

As Niantic stated with the initial tease of the Sinnoh Pokemon, a lot of tweaks have been made to the Pokemon Go meta. CP has been rebalanced to account for the addition of the new Pokemon to keep things fair. The weather system has also been tweaked, reworking the buffs you receive in raid and gym battles.

Previous generation Pokemon are still showing up frequently in game, so don’t worry if you still need to fill out your Pokedex. The mysterious new Pokemon, Meltan, is still appearing in game as well.
