A new Nintendo Direct focused solely on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been announced. Nintendo announced via Twitter that the Direct will take place on Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. EDT/7 a.m. PDT and will last for 40 minutes.
The Direct will be hosted by series director Masahiro Sakurai and will boast some big announcements for the upcoming title. This will be the last Super Smash Bros. Direct before the game’s release on Dec. 7, so plan for Nintendo to go all out on the surprises.
The presentation will be followed up by a Nintendo Treehouse live stream focusing on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, Yoshi’s Crafted World and Diablo III: Eternal Edition. Those who stick around after the Direct should expect gameplay presentations of all of the aforementioned titles.
So far, Nintendo has hit hard with the Super Smash Bros. announcements in the past. Character announcements have been the biggest surprises throughout these directs with Ridley, King K. Rool, Simon Belmont, and Isabelle already being announced in previous directs. It begs the question, who could Nintendo have up their sleeves left to announce before launch?
Interestingly, many rumors have been flying around recently suggesting that a leaked image of the full roster could be real. The leaked image is the same one that Nintendo has been adding to with each announcement of a new character and shows characters like Shadow the Hedgehog, Banjo-Kazooie, Kos-Mos (Xenoblade), Chorus Kids (Rhythm Heaven), Geno (Super Mario RPG), Mach Rider, and Isaac (Golden Sun).
This leak has many speculating that Thursday’s Direct will either confirm or deny it’s validity. If a few characters from the leak are revealed in the Direct, then it is all but confirmed to be real. For now, this should be taken as nothing more than rumors and speculation until further notice.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will launch on Dec. 7, 2018, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
