After Telltale Games’ abrupt closure earlier this year, fans and employees were left with an incomplete final season to The Walking Dead. While the company has come under fire for the way the situation was handled, Skybound Games has come to the rescue.

Skybound Games is a division of Skybound Entertainment, the company that published The Walking Dead comics. During New York City Comic Con, creator of those comics, Robert Kirkland, announced the final season would be completed and released with the help of former Telltale employees. These final two episodes will be available for PC exclusively on the Epic Store via their new digital marketplace. In a recent announcement, Skybound Games commented on their partnership with Epic Games:

The Team at Epic owns a major chapter in the history of the game industry . . . to bring the original team back together and ensure fans will receive the completed season.”ย

The announcement came along with a video Q&A that featured star Melissa Hutchison, known for her role as Clementine in The Walking Dead. Telltale Games was known for its interactive style and released popular games such as Batman and Game of Thrones. When the company closed, the final season of The Walking Dead was in mid-development. Fans and employees alike were uncertain whether or not the story would ever be completed.

For fans uninterested in owning the game on PC, physical releases are planned for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. The exact dates and details will be announced soon. Choices that were made in previous games that impact story will still carry over to the final two episodes via local or cloud saves. There will be no alteration of previous episodes of The Walking Dead.

This is good news for fans that have been heartbroken by the sudden move of Telltale. Skybound Games has garnered great praise from their dedication to bringing not only the fans what they want, but also help the employees close off this chapter of their work.
