Recently, Critical Role launched a Kickstarter campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to fund an animated special – something the fans have requested for years. At the time, not many details had been announced. But with the launch of their Kickstarter today, the cast of Critical Role released a video with all the ins and outs. And, in an outpouring of love, it has already been funded.

It reached its goal of $750,000 within just 20 minutes. And within five hours, it reached $2.5 Million. The Kickstarter will be up for 45 days, and the cast has promised new stretch goals with new rewards unlocked for the fans.

The castโ€™s reaction to the increasing support was charming.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

In their video about the animated special, Critical Role revealed a sneak preview of the animation. They stated they are planning for it to run for 30 minutes and take place before streaming began with a Level 7 Vox Machina. ย But after the massive success of the Kickstarter, it will now last 66 minutes. After the wide success of their art books and graphic novels, this is a next step in telling their story to the world.

Rewards for donating include original downloads for their songs, dice, art prints, meeting the cast, and even an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles to hang out with them and go to the red carpet screening of the animated special. Which has been revealed to be titled The Legend of Vox Machina. A recently reached stretch goal has also allowed for a Dalenโ€™s Closet one shot – a spin-off of a popular episode in Campaign 1.

Thank you, Critters. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’™

The animated special, just like Critical Role, will be aimed towards adults due to language, violence, and sexual language. Reward packages are set to ship May 2020, with the animated special released in Fall of 2020 after 18 months of production.

Congratulations, Critical Role!
