First Titans, then Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing – and now, Stargirl. Those at DC are sure putting a lot of effort into the original content for their DC Universe streaming service.

And now thanks to an image reveal at WonderCon in Anaheim, California, we can see some of the fruits of those efforts. What follows is the first official image of Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore AKA Stargirl in the eponymously named web-series. Check it out:

The costume, designed by Laura Jean Shannon, looks remarkably true to the comic version of Stargirl. Shannon is no stranger to the world of superhero costume design, having worked on high-profile productions as Marvel’s Iron Man and the Netflix series Black Lightning.

The series is being produced by Berlanti Productions and Mad Ghost Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Geoff Johns, who has helped pioneer the DC Universe alongside Greg Berlanti, is the showrunner and has also written the first episode.

Thanks to Deadline, we also have a synopsis for the show:

Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.

It should be noted that this isn’t the first time Stargirl has graced a DC show. The character appeared in Season 9 and 10 of Smallville, played by Britt Irvin. This marked the character’s first ever live-action appearance alongside the rest of the Justice Society of America.

She would later pop up in the Arrowverse apart of the second season of Legends of Tomorrow, portrayed by Sarah Grey.

The character first appeared in a 1999 comic called STARS and S.T.R.I.P.E #0. She was created by Geoff Johns and artist Lee Molder. Johns has cited his late sister, Courtney, as the inspiration for the character’s creation.
