One Amazon Flex driver in Oregon might be celebrating Bring Your Kid To Work Day all year round, as they were caught having their daughter do deliveries for them. While the child isn’t driving the vehicle around, she is taking the packages to the front door. And the way she’s making a mad dash back to her parents’ car in a video uploaded to Reddit might expose that the family is definitely not trying to be noticed.
“Didn’t know Amazon hired child delivery drivers,” OP laughed in his post, saying later in a reply that he thought the idea of a young daughter making deliveries was “cute.” Other commenters chimed in with nostalgic memories of helping out their dad “pass out fliers in the morning” or “open up the gas station” business. The main difference, I’d argue, between this and their past experiences is that one: Flex driving isn’t a ‘family business’ and two: we aren’t in the 90s anymore.

Child labor jokes aside, a slew of commenters believe the driver doesn’t have or can’t afford a babysitter, so they’re just dragging their child along for the Flex ride while making them do the deliveries at the same time. “Probably can’t get a babysitter and still needs to put food on the table and is also letting his/her kid get some energy out,” remarks a top-upvoted comment.
One parent even claims they would be fine letting their own 5-year-old do package deliveries as well if it wasn’t so “dangerous” since people would post it online, like OP did. “It’s against ToS and also the law to let a child do your work. Of course, people are gonna talk about it,” responds a user. Legal or not, having your child do your job that isn’t family-business-related is shady enough. If you’re able to drive a car, you should be physically able to handle Flex deliveries yourself, rather than having your young child do them for you.
