The mayoral race in California has been one of the most chaotic lately, especially given all the things we’ve been learning from the candidates vying for the city’s top spot. The one to make it to the spotlight today is none other than Spencer Pratt, who has been caught lying about living in a trailer in California. After uncovering his lies, people quickly turned on him and started criticizing the celebrity-turned-candidate, and some opinions don’t look too friendly in a way that they could help his candidacy.
The original report comes from The Daily Beast, which in turn got the information from TMZ. Apparently, when Pratt’s campaign began, he started criticizing the current Mayor for not handling last year’s fires well. Then he ran an aggressive campaign ad, claiming the current leaders had “let his home burn” and that it was time for change. Then, a shot appeared in that ad showing Spencer Pratt allegedly living in a trailer in California. Many believe that he did this to show solidarity while also throwing a critique at the Mayor at the time. Still, it seems it wasn’t the right call according to some Redditors, as new information about Pratt’s living arrangements has come to light.
According to TMZ, and reported in the above post, Spencer Pratt has been living at the Bel-Air Hotel in Los Angeles, California. While Pratt mentioned in the interview with the aforementioned outlet that he never claimed he lived in a trailer in the first place, he did say it in the video, which led many to believe he resided there.
Pratt went on to correct the statement, mentioning he was referring to the city and not the actual trailer, but some people misunderstood it. In any case, and according to some comments, this didn’t help his candidacy.
Californians Criticize Candidate Pratt’s Claims
While it does seem like it was an honest mistake and people understood he was living in a trailer, as that appeared in the shot when he said, “This is where I live,” the fact that he used this in an ad backfired, as you can see in some comments.
“SHOCKING!“
“A MAGA lying? No way!“
Others, however, criticized those who believed in the ad, noting that there were no signs that he would indeed be staying in the trailer.
“Did anyone actually believe the guy with the funds to run for Mayor and buy all those billboards to really be living in a trailer?“
In the end, it seems this backfired on Pratt, who is now in 2nd place in the race for Mayor.
