‘A Bunch of Gelatinous Blobs’: Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren Blasts Republicans for Refusing to Constrain Trump

Have Republicans lost their spine?

Sen. Warren posted video of herself pressing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on tax issues during a hearing. The X post quickly led to users firing their own questions back at the Massachusetts senator.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren accused Senate Republicans of refusing to use their majority to constrain President Donald Trump. She made the remarks during a MeidasTouch interview about war, tax deals, corruption, and Todd Blanche’s confirmation. Her “gelatinous blobs” description drew attention to her criticism of Republican deference to Trump.

PabloReports: Do you agree with Senator Cornyn that there is nothing that can be done to constrain Trump?

Warren: No. Republicans have the majority. They could constrain Trump on war, on these slimy tax deals, on his corruption. The list is long. But to do that, they would… pic.twitter.com/sBVuo49jNX

MeidasTouch asked whether Warren agreed with Sen. John Cornyn that the Senate could not constrain Trump. Warren answered, “No,” and said Republicans had the power to act.

She said Republicans could constrain Trump on war, “slimy tax deals,” and corruption. Warren said the list was long, but Republicans would first need to “grow a spine.”

She described them as “a bunch of gelatinous blobs” who bowed to Trump’s wishes. Warren called their conduct “disgusting.”

The interviewer then asked about Todd Blanche’s path to confirmation while referencing Epstein. Warren replied, “More gelatinous blob,” and called it “outrageous.”

Elizabeth Warren’s ‘Gelatinous Blobs’ Remark Sparks Trump-GOP Debate

Online responses split over whether Warren exposed Republican submission or relied on familiar partisan attacks.

Supporters echoed Warren’s language. One X user wrote, “Republican Senators are a bunch of gelatinous blobs. Elizabeth Warren is 100% correct.” Another focused on accountability: “She is 100% correct! Republicans in Congress have let Trump get away with everything. They have not made him accountable for anything.”

Support also crossed party lines. A self-identified Republican wrote, “As a republican I have never agreed with Warren on anything, but on this I agree 100%!” Another response stated, “Well, she is right about one thing. Republicans need to grow a spine and start doing what we elected them to do, instead of acting like they need to be everyone’s best friend.”

Critics rejected Warren’s framing as partisan. One wrote, “She’s such a team player. Blame the Republicans for everything. Thune works for the Democrats every day, yet that’s not enough. More division, more Hate, while Massachusetts turns into a Communist Hell hole. Pitiful.”

Another challenged her party’s record: “Your rhetoric is tired. Even when the Dems had control, you had zero legislation passed. And no new ideas.”

The exchange did not establish whether Senate Republicans would take action against Trump. That question remains unresolved.
