We might see Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door again, this time on the Nintendo Switch. Lately, Mario has been the talk of the town, with the new movie and all. With the continuous updates surrounding Nintendo Switch Online, more and more older titles are making their way to the Switch. Hundreds of beloved titles are crossing the emulation gap, slowly but steadily forming into an entire library of content, all based on whether or not a customer has a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.
While the list of titles is ever-expanding, GameCube games are still far from available. This leaves plenty of potential winner titles out of the running, unable to persuade customers toward a purchase. Titles like Mario Kart Double Dash aren’t going to be selling anyone on NSO any time soon, but there may be one title creeping its way onto Switch consoles sometime this year if rumors are to be believed.
While it’s just a rumor, a GameCube title getting remade for the Switch is a pretty big one. While a potential leak is out and about, the rumor initially started from a pretty good source concerning all things Mario: Shigeru Miyamoto. This came through an announcement surrounding the new Super Mario Bros Movie, one where Shigeru mentioned the potential of a “new Mario game.” While he didn’t namedrop Paper Mario specifically or give any details otherwise, the rumor merely started there, the continuation being on anonymous messaging boards.
Is A Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remaster Really In The Works?
Very recently, an anonymous user on Famiboards put forward the notion of a remaster on the horizon. The poster said that Nintendo is planning a Switch Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remaster. The leaker explained that their information came from three different sources, all saying the game was coming soon. No specific date was mentioned, only that the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remaster would be “coming soon.” As usual, with rumors, the lack of information is a sign to be cautious. However, it does match up with the new Mario game promise decently well.
Do you think Paper Mario is coming back? Or is this rumor something soon to be forgotten?
