It seems that the creator of the infamous (and meme-able) DK Rap won’t be getting any credit for the song as it appears in The Super Mario Bros movie. With the movie coming out soon, more and more details about the background work and production have surfaced to the audience. For many fans, this is a disappointment, as the rap was one of the first representations of our crazy friend that some players ever saw.
For those not knowing about DK, the DK Rap first appeared in Donkey Kong 64 during the game’s opening. The song introduces the cast in a silly but ultimately catchy rapping song about Donkey Kong. For many fans of the Kong, this presentation was the first time they ever saw the guy in 3D, making it a notable moment for many fans of the Super Mario series. For others, it’s a silly rap that shouldn’t be given the time of day. To this day, the song is a titular point that divides fans. Regardless, the song has seen remix and remaster throughout the years in the franchise, appearing in spinoff games and main series titles alike.
I was really looking forward to see my name in the credits for the DK Rap, but alas as expected it's not there …….. fml

Why Is DK Rap Creator Not Getting Credit in Super Mario Bros?
Now the fans of the franchise all ask the same question: What’s the deal? Why isn’t Grant Kirkhope getting the credit for a song he wrote? The truth is, not even the writer of the song knows. He recently put out a tweet acknowledging the fact that his name wasn’t in the credits, expressing his disappointment. While he has had a mixed bit of a relationship with the song he wrote, it’s still his work. Many other prime names have commented on the DK Rap over time, even Seth Rogan giving it a bad rap. As bad of a rap as it may get, that still doesn’t excuse a lack of credit.
