Even if our characters are now enjoying a much-deserved vacation on the sunny coasts of Tuliyollal, FFXIV 7.1 still has some unfinished business with Endwalker, especially with Pandaemonium through the “A Present from the Present” quest. While this mission doesn’t bring a lot of combat-focused moments or new instances, it’s worth doing for the rewards and for the lore of some of the game’s most important characters. So, if you want to travel back to where it all began, here’s a guide on how to complete this short yet memorable quest.
FFXIV: A Present From the Present Quest Guide
Before you try to find the “A Present from a Present” quest in FFXIV, there are a few requirements you need to meet:
- Have any combat job at level 90.
- Complete the Pandaemonium raid series up until the “Guided by the Past” quest.
Once you meet those parameters, head to Old Sharlayan and speak with the Affable Researcher. You will find them next to the main Aetheryte (X: 11.0, Y: 10.6).
After some quick dialogue, you’ll be asked to head back to visit the ones in charge of researching Pandaemonium in the first place. Head to Aporia in Labyrinthos and speak with Claudien.
After a few cutscenes, some details about past characters, and other things that will add salt to the wound Pandaemonium left, you’re off to Elpis once more to find our good old friend Erichtonios. To find them, you can teleport to Elpis and then head to the icon on the map to find the entrance to Pandaemonium; it should be marked on your mini-map. Once inside, speak with Hegemone to continue the quest.
You’ll find out what Erichthonios has been doing ever since we finished the raids, and you’ll be asked to hide nearby to spring the surprise on him. Do so and listen to the conversation.
All you must do now is listen to the heartfelt interaction with Hegemone. Erichthonios, and mini-Themis. It provides a bit of closure to the ordeal you all went through and shows how Erichthonios has grown after the raids. Once the conversation is over, speak with Hegemone and return to Aporia to complete the quest. You’ll get the following items as a reward:
- Wind-up Themis
- Where Daemons Abide (Orchestrion Roll)
- 1500 Gil
Sadly, there isn’t an achievement or anything tied to this quest, but the minion and music roll are more than enough. It might not be the longest or most difficult quest in the MMO, but it’s one that delivers a short yet endearing story with the ones we left behind in The World Unsundered.
