A Texas Parent Is Fighting to Rescue Their Kidnapped Daughter From Pakistan: ‘You Have Relief Options, but You Need a Good Attorney’

I can’t even imagine what they felt

I think many of us would agree that plenty of parents out there give their all to take care of their children. Especially when a child is in danger, it is common to assume that parents will jump into action to defend their kids. The problem sometimes comes when parents do not have a united front in marriages and co-parenting relationships. For example, we have this disturbing story on Reddit where a parent in Texas is desperate to get back their four-year-old daughter, who was kidnapped and taken to Pakistan. Worst of all, it was the mother herself who took the little girl to another country.

Ex wife left with daughter to Pakistan without my permission

The Reditor Syed888 asked r/legaladvice to share how he has a 4-year-old girl with their ex-wife, and that last April 18, the ex traveled with their daughter, supposedly to Dallas. However, too much time passed, and this Texas parent started looking for information, so they ended up discovering from the Pakistan USA embassy that the ex had taken their daughter to Pakistan. One of the biggest inconsistencies is that the ex needs a notarized signature from OP for the daughter to travel outside the USA, but the child left without the other parent’s consent. Since then, this Texas parent says they have been working with the Hague Convention and the FBI for parental kidnapping, but wants to know what else they can do to get their daughter back from Pakistan. Fortunately, several Redditors gave their advice:

I am a lawyer, not your lawyer, but I have dealt with similar cases before where the child was illegally brought to the US. You want a lawyer to look into the 1980 hague convention on the civil aspects of international child abduction and the corresponding US statutes, 22 USC 9001-9011. Pakistan is a signatory of the treaty so you have relief options but you need a good attorney to pursue all your options. Best of luck to you!

Syed888 also added that they believe their ex left the USA despite having a green card and the daughter being a citizen, because she got a lot of money after she committed healthcare fraud. So, the ex is running away from her problems, but her little girl will suffer the most. Hopefully, OP can resolve this international problem quickly, and their daughter will be okay with it.
