However, MMA fighter Sean Strickland recently drew the attention of the internet after he went on a long racist, misogynistic, and bigoted rant during the UFC Media Day event in Texas. The man went to the event to promote his upcoming match with Anthony Hernandez. You would think that after he got suspended from the UFC in July for attacking another fighter while working as a cornerman, he would be more careful with his actions. Yet, contrary to logic, the man decided that he would instead begin ranting about his beliefs at the Texas UFC Media Day event, which many found controversial.
It started when he was asked about the upcoming match between two female fighters, Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. The man immediately said that the two should fight half naked and that nobody cares about women’s sports. He then tried to soften the blow, saying that women did great things like cooking and cleaning.
Later during the Texas UFC Media Day event, he was asked about the NFL and ended up talking about Bad Bunny. He used a derogatory slur and said that the NFL was ruined because of gay people. Strickland also criticized the decision to invite Bad Bunny to perform at the halftime show, calling him a foreigner who can’t even speak English. As of now, Paramount and the UFC have yet to give a comment.
Internet users who saw the clip from the Texas UFC Media Day event were outraged and disgusted with Strickland’s words. Many criticized him for his racist, bigoted, and misogynistic rant. “2007 Xbox Live brain,” one user said.
Others wondered why Paramount hasn’t said anything about what happened at the Texas UFC Media Day event. “What exactly is this Paramount media day and why was he allowed to go on for so long? This isn’t a personal podcast or anything. Paramount and media companies in general are so sensitive to brand image. Can’t believe someone didn’t just cut the mic.”
Some users mocked Strickland for his false assumption that Bad Bunny is a foreigner. “The amount of US citizens who think Bad Bunny is a foreigner is wild. All the other stuff is vile as well, but like damn, you don’t even know your own country,” one Redditor commented.
