The use of AI in any field is a topic that divides people in a crazy way. Not only because AI is a threat to many workers, as it is in the creative and entertainment industry, but it has also become an obstacle in education. Or at least that’s what happened on a TikTok with this student from the University of the Arts London, who preferred to leave her classroom in the middle of a lecture about the use of AI in front of illustration students. It is unbelievable how they touch on these AI topics with one of the groups most affected by it, the artists.
The illustration student niimko shared in a TikTok how she walks in annoyance, leaving the building where she takes classes. In the video, niimko describes that she is against listening to anyone who favors using AI to make storyboards to avoid hiring storyboard artists and cutting costs. She points out that this was during a class for illustration students at the University of the Arts London, an art college, and that it is infuriating that they held a class supporting AI. For this reason, she had better leave her place, showing how much she was against it, but her video brought a lot of mixed opinions.
If you need AI to generate your ideas or overall work, you arent a good artist. That goes for all forms of art.

That’s genuinely appalling! HOW can an arts lecturer not be against ai! Shocking!!

However, quite a few other comments complain that artists tend to do a lot of gatekeeping, that their prices for their work are excessive, and that others are happy that AI could replace creative workers. However, one must think that this would mean many jobs would be lost. Although AI can be a great tool in some respects, it needs more regulations to avoid affecting others. Besides, art has always tried to express itself, but a computer cannot and is much more limited.
