This Monday morning Luke Perry was pronounced dead at St Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, CA. Last Wednesday Perry was admitted to the hospital after a massive stroke while in his home in Sherman Oaks, CA. The doctors sedated him to help the brain recover from the trauma, but the damage was too extensive.

Perry died surrounded by friends and family. This included his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Beaur, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, and sister Amy Coder. A rep for Luke Perry has said:

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world. No further details will be released at this time.”

Luke Perry rose to fame in the 80’s as a heartthrob in Beverly Hills, 90210, where he played Dylan McKay for ten seasons. He also was in Another World, Oz, Jeremiah, Windfall, John from Cincinnati, and Body of Proof.

Perry also did extensive voice acting work. This included roles in Biker Mice from Mars, Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, the Legend of Calamity Jane, The Incredible Hulk, Pepper Ann, and Pound Puppies.

Perry’s most recent work was a role in the CW’s Riverdale, where he played Archie’s dad. He also filmed a role in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Charles Manson movie titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

A reboot of 90210 was recently announced, but Luke Perry was not signed on to be  regular. There was rumor he would do guest appearances, but anything more steady conflicted with his filming schedule for Riverdale. Fan mourn today for the loss of a television icon but can look forward to seeing him in his last role in the Tarantino movie. No announcement yet on his character in Riverdale.

RIP Luke Perry
