Ad Astra, the upcoming Sci-Fi spectacle starring Brad Pitt, has just had a new trailer released on IGN’s YouTube Channel. And it shows some new details. So far, we know the underlying plot of the space-epic, courtesy of Twentieth-Century Fox:
A paranoid thriller in space that follows Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) on a mission across an unforgiving solar system to uncover the truth about his missing father and his doomed expedition that now, 30 years later, threatens the universe.
It sounds pretty good and according to critic reviews so far, it lives up to expectations. And from previous trailers, Ad Astra also looks stunning. You can check out that new clip down below (via IGN):
Ad Astra is Like the Brushstrokes on a Canvas
In the clip, director James Gray states that “it’s an immersive film experience”, and goes as far as saying “it’s like the Brushstrokes on a Canvas”, making the movie seem like a piece of art rather than something you’d spend $10 on at the movie theatre. Though when seeing how highly critics have rated Ad Astra, it seems like you’ll be getting your money’s worth.
Besides the few elevating voice-overs/interviews, there isn’t a lot of new footage. It similarly shows Brad Pitt in a spacesuit in a variety of situations, staring just above the camera in a heroic stance. In terms of special effects, Ad Astra, as you’d expect from a (just under) $100 million budget movie, looks utterly stunning. It shows the solar system in a whole new light, with beautiful details on the surface of the Moon, Mars, and Jupiter. Brad Pitt says towards the end of the short clip, “to see this film on the big screen (epic pause), it really makes the difference.”. And with a barrage of special and visual effects, you’ll probably need to, in order to witness Ad Astra in all its glory.
Ad Astra will release on September 20th, 2019.
