Aerosmith has taken the stage for the last time. On Friday, August 2, the band made the difficult announcement that they would retire from touring after over 50 years. The decision comes as the band has reached an impasse. They were in the middle of their farewell tour, “Peace Out… Farewell Tour,” when it had to be stopped in September 2023 due to issues with Steven Tyler‘s voice.
Aerosmith played their final show in Elmont, New York, on Sept. 9, 2023, just three days into the tour. The original run was set to conclude in February 2024. Up until this point, the days have been postponed. With this announcement, they are officially canceled.
In their announcement, the band recognized their fans for helping the band reach amazing heights. In their over five decades together, they have been regarded as one of the best bands to ever make rock music. The news comes as a tough blow to Aerosmith fans.
Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history.
It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.

The band went on to explain that they can no longer perform to the standards they strive to deliver for fans because of Steven Tyler’s complications with his voice. The vocal injury came after one of the tour’s early dates, with Tyler reportedly damaging his vocal cords and fracturing his larynx, per Deadline.
We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.

The announcement doesn’t rule out future recordings, but it’s worth noting the band’s last album, “Music From Another Dimension!,” came out in 2012.
The farewell tour also featured the absence of founding member Joey Kramer, who reportedly had contention with other band members that led to the decision not to participate, per Variety.
