Right now, the Genshin Impact community is on fire because what started as the majority supporting the English VA in their strike started to fall apart in the last week. Some red flags appeared before with some EN VA, but the attack on the new Kinich VA was the last nail in the coffin, and since then, everything has been getting worse. A few VAs, specifically Candace, Keqing, and especially Paimon, retaliated with offensive comments, even against the fan community. This triggered many of the players to demand a recast, mainly against Paimon, but a fan of Genshin’s Impact on Reddit brought hope to the community after showing their fandub.
Many fans supported the whole movement of the VAs affiliated with Sag-AFTRA, but this same union and some of its VAs became the villains of this chapter. After months since John Patneaude, the first Kinich VA, did not return to lend his voice, HoYoverse got Jacob Takanashi to take his place. Jacob celebrated this milestone with a post on Twitter, which some received confused, and certain Genshin Impact VAs started attacking him. This started a back-and-forth where the players thought it was unfair to attack Jacob when he was in Japan and didn’t know of the strike. However, Candace, Keqing, and Paimon retaliated against the fans who defended him.
Finally, everything turned into a dumpster on fire when Paimon VA, Corina, shared a rant with a very condescending tone on their TikTok. In this video, Paimon VA says that only other VAs understand the issue, that Youtubers are not VAs, and that they are liars. Between the lines, Corina also called the fans “fools.” From this point, the fans, including those in China, demanded that HoYoverse remove Corina, and others said they would stop playing in English. But Genshin Impact fan ecorda98 shared on r/Genshin_Impact their fandub trying to do the voice of Paimon. All Redditors loved ecorda98’s performance; some even wished that OP would become the official voice. Others said that Ecorda98 has a lovely and less annoying voice.
Undoubtedly, the latest actions of the current Paimon’s voice leave much to be desired, and they have become the public enemy number one of most fans in many countries.
