‘A**Hole’ Arrested for Stealing Nintendo Switch Games From Public Libraries in California: ‘Stealing From the Kids, smh’

It takes quite a lowlife to steal from a community

With the Nintendo Switch 2’s recent launch of pricey first-party releases, there’s probably no one out there who wouldn’t want games to be cheaper again. However, one 45-year-old man wanted his Switch games to be much cheaper — free, in fact — that he stole around $10,000 worth of Nintendo Switch games from multiple public libraries in Marin County, California. According to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the criminal gamer is facing 12 felony charges, including numerous counts of “burglary and committing a felony while out on bail.”

While there is much to be said about Nintendo, such as their pricing models, treatment of their customers, or recent lawsuit with Palworld, stealing Switch games from a public library is completely different. As a Redditor puts it, the California man wasn’t robbing a big, rich corporation like Nintendo in this scenario. Instead, he was taking items that had to be replaced out of a “fixed budget from an entity whose entire existence is dedicated to equitably helping spread knowledge and provide resources to the underprivileged.” Or, simply put, he was an “a**hole who stole from [the] local young population.”

Reddit users continued to bash the grown man for stealing games from kids who would have wanted to borrow them from their local libraries. “This motherf***er is 45 years old and stealing Switch games? Come on man. Lol,” remarked a commenter. “Stealing from the kids. smh,” said another. “As a father who borrows switch games for my kids from the library, f this guy. I hope they throw the book at him,” comments a dad. “At this point, just throw the library at him,” jokes a reply.

Well, from how many felony charges he has on his name, the 45-year-old looks like he’s going to get what’s coming to him. Hopefully, the video games he stole will be recovered. And perhaps, as some Redditors put it, this incident will encourage console game owners to donate from their own collections to public libraries. Specifically, it would be neat for the general public to enjoy the games they don’t play anymore.
