Alec Baldwin has waived his court appearance for his ‘Rust’ shooting case scheduled for May. The actor recently asked a court to grant the request for the preliminary hearing in Halyna Hutchin’s case.
Alec Baldwin’s “Rust” shooting case rang in fresh again this year. Last year, it was reported that he settled a lawsuit with Halyna Hutchin’s family. Recall that the actor was on set with Hutchin, a cinematographer who died after he fired a gun. She sustained a wound from the injury but did not make it.
Initially, Matthew Hutchin blamed the actor, but in a statement, he revealed they had settled things. Via his attorney, Matthew explained that he had wrongfully accused the “Rust” actor. He also included the production team.
But this year, fresh claims began to fly from Hutchin’s family. Baldwin was charged with manslaughter. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who joined him on set, has been decked with involuntary manslaughter.
Dave Halls, the film’s assistant director, was slammed with a misdemeanor charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. However, Hall pleaded guilty and will face probation. Meanwhile, the other two refuse to go down without a fight.
Alec Baldwin is set for the preliminary hearing but decided to waive his court appearance. This would be the second time the actor would do such.

Alec Baldwin Waives Court Appearance A Second Time
The first time Alec Baldwin waived his court appearance was in February. This collided with the first time he was expected to appear in court. Legal experts explained the court process as a “routine court proceeding.”
Recently, Alec Baldwin wrote to the judge who would be handling the preliminary hearing on the “Rust” shooting case. According to the details of his documents, he began by acknowledging he had been charged.
Baldwin told the court he understood the importance of his appearance, then added:
“I request that the Court permit me to waive a personal appearance in court for the following proceedings: PRELIMINARY HEARING.”
Consequently, the onscreen star had his request granted. The judge approved his waiver. This implies that Baldwin can be absent from the Santa Fe County courthouse on May 3.
