Are you trying to find all the Ancient Hyrulean tablets in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? One of the many collectibles offered in Tears of the Kingdom, these ancient tablets contain messages from the era of the Zonai, and it’s up to you to track them down. The Ancient Hyrulean tablets are the subject of the side quest “Messages From an Ancient Era,” where you have to take pictures of the tablets and show them to Wortsworth, a historian and researcher, so that he can decode them.
In total, there are twelve Ancient Hyrulean tablets in Tears of the Kingdom, not including the one at Lookout Landing that introduces you to the side quest. All of the tablets are found on the sky level of the map, dotted between the sky islands on small flower-shaped islands. With their distinctive shape, they’re not too hard to find once you know what you’re looking for, but they can be hard to get to. We recommend getting the Glide Armor and completing the Wind Temple to get Tulin’s sage ability before setting out to collect all the tablets.
We’ve compiled a map of all of the Ancient Hyrulean tablets below and a list of all their locations for easy collecting.
Tablet #1 – West Hebra Sky Archipelago
- Location: West Hebra Sky, west of the Rising Island Chain
- Coordinates: (-4034, 3190, 0447)
This Ancient Hyrulean tablet in Tears of the Kingdom is located in the far northwest corner of the map, not far from the Rising Island Chain and the Wind Temple. There are several ways to reach the tablet’s location, but we found two reliable paths you can take. For the first method, travel to Kahatanaum Shrine in the Rising Island Chain. Use the trampoline found near the shrine to gain some height, then glide west until you see the flower-shaped island below you.
If you don’t have the Wind Temple unlocked, you can also fast-travel to Ijo-o Shrine. Push the rotatable launching block to point to the northwest, then jump on it and let it fling you into the air. Land on the square island just ahead of you, then continue gliding northwest until you see the Ancient Hyrulean tablet. Whichever way you choose to get to the tablet, remember to land and snap a picture of it.
Tablet #2 – East Hebra Sky Archipelago
- Location: East Hebra Sky, west of the North Lomei Labyrinth
- Coordinates: (-1376, 3583, 0907)
The second Ancient Hyrulean tablet is not far from the first, located in the East Hebra Sky Archipelago due west of the nearby labyrinth. It’s possible to glide straight to the tablet from Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower if you have the stamina, but we had an easier time fast-traveling to Taninoud Shrine. From the shrine, rotate the launching block to point at the giant floating labyrinth. Let the platform launch you into the air, then glide over to the flower-shaped island with the tablet.
Tablet #3 – North Hyrule Sky Archipelago
- Location: North Hyrule Sky, north of Bravery Island
- Coordinates: (-0032, 2998, 1497)
The third Ancient Hyrulean Tablet is located in the North Hyrule Sky Archipelago, north of Bravery Island. To get to it, travel to Typhlo Ruins Skyview Tower. After you’ve been launched into the air, glide southwest until you see the flower-shaped island and can land on it. Be careful when landing on this one, though – as soon as you step on the center, the tablet will drop to the surface and into the Drenan Highlands Chasm. You have to follow it down into the Depths, but thankfully there aren’t any monsters around. You can just snap a picture of the tablet and fast-travel back out.
Tablet #4: South Eldin Sky Archipelago
- Location: South Eldin Sky, east of Sky Mine
- Coordinates: (2214, 0990, 1142)
The fourth Ancient Hyrulean tablet is located in the South Eldin Sky Archipeligo, just southeast of the Sky Mine and all of its minecarts. The simplest way to reach this tablet is by using the Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower to launch yourself into the air and glide southeast. However, this trip does require a good amount of stamina, so if you’re looking for a shorter method, you can also fast-travel to Kadaunar Shrine – if you have it unlocked – and glide in the same direction until you see the flower-shaped island with the tablet on it.
Tablet #5 – Lanayru Sky Archipelago
- Location: Lanayru Sky, southwest of Wellspring Island
- Coordinates: (2919, 0219, 0797)
The fifth Ancient Hyrulean tablet is located in the Lanayru Sky Archipelago, not far from Zora’s Domain and Wellspring Island. The easiest way to reach the tablet and its flower-shaped island is to travel to the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower, launch into the air, then glide south until you can land on the tablet. It’s also possible to reach the tablet by gliding southwest from the Water Temple on Wellspring Island if you have it unlocked and aren’t afraid of a slightly longer trip.
Be careful when landing on this tablet, as it will fall out from under you, and you’ll have to follow it to the surface. Thankfully, this one doesn’t land in the depths, just on the surface of Hyrule.
Tablet #6 – Sokkala Sky Archipelago
- Location: Sokkala Sky, near Flux Construct II arena
- Coordinates: (3569, 1753, 1357)
The sixth Ancient Hyrulean tablet is a little tricky to get to since it’s pretty high in elevation, and you’re going to have to do some construction to get there safely. To start, travel to the Uluri Mountain Skyview Tower. Once you’re in the air, you’ll see an island to the south that’s made up of a large round arena attached to a smaller square section. The large circle is a Flux Construct arena, so avoid that and land on the square part instead.
Once you land, you’ll see a partially-constructed Zonai device made up of a metal grate, four fans, a steering stick, and two batteries. Use Ultrahand to attach the rest of the nearby batteries to the device, for a total of six; you can also attach rockets if you want a jumpstart getting off the ground. With your device fully built, jump on it and ride it straight up. Once you get enough height, start moving west, and you’ll eventually see the distinctive flower-shaped island that holds the Hyrulean tablet. After you get high enough, jump off the device and land on the island to get a picture of the tablet.
Tablet #7 – East Necluda Sky Archipelago
- Location: Necluda Sky, southeastern Hyrule
- Coordinates: (3920, -2457, 1197)
The seventh Ancient Hyrulean tablet is another one that’s hard to get to since it’s pretty far out of the way and will require a lot of stamina to get to. The flower-shaped island is located in the southeastern corner of the map, and the closest fast-travel point is the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. Travel to the tower, and once you’re in the air, glide directly south. We were able to just barely make the trip to the tablet with two and a half wheels of stamina, so be sure to pack stamina-replenishing food if you need it. Tulin’s sage ability is also quite handy here, so don’t be afraid to use it.
Once you land on the tablet, it will fall into a small outcropping of land between Hateno Bay and Kitano Bay. Remember to follow it down to get a picture of the tablet.
Tablet #8 – Necluda Sky Archipelago
- Location: Necluda Sky, northeast of Thunderhead Isles
- Coordinates: (2086, -2729, 1334)
Getting to the eighth Ancient Hyrulean tablet is going to require more construction and the Zora Armor, so be sure to equip it right off the bat. Then, travel to the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower. Once you’re in the air, you’ll see a small island with a pond and a waterfall to the west. Glide over to the island and swim up the waterfall using the Zora armor. Now you’ll be able to see the flower-shaped island above you and to the south, but you’ll need to get there.
In order to get up to the tablet’s location, you’re going to need to build a Zonai flying device. It doesn’t matter what kind, though we recommend using one of the ones in Autobuild if you have it. Ride your device up to the tablet, and be prepared for the tablet to fall to the surface once you land on it. Follow it down to take a picture of it.
Tablet #9 – Faron Sky Archipelago
- Location: Faron Sky, south of Great Sky Island
- Coordinates: (0475, -2238, 0397)
The ninth Ancient Hyrulean tablet is located just south of Great Sky Island, the game’s tutorial area. To get there, fast-travel to the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower and launch yourself into the air. Glide southwest once you’re in the air, and aim for the flower-shaped island on your map. You can simply glide over and land; this tablet will not fall out of the sky.
Tablet #10 – South Hyrule Sky Archipelago
- Location: South Hyrule Sky, west of Great Sky Island
- Coordinates: (-1247, -1927, 0982)
The tenth Ancient Hyrulean tablet is located in the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago, west of Great Sky Island. In order to reach it, you’ll need to fast-travel to Jinodok Shrine. After you arrive, walk south until you come across a large, rotatable launching platform. Move the platform until it’s pointed south and jump on it, allowing yourself to be flung into the air. From here, the flower-shaped island should be visible, and you just need to glide over to it.
Tablet #11 – Gerudo Sky
- Location: Gerudo Sky, west of the South Lomei Labyrinth
- Coordinates: (-2445, -3240, 0997)
The eleventh Ancient Hyrulean tablet is in the sky above the Gerudo Desert, just west of the labyrinth. Getting to this tablet is going to require a fair bit of stamina since the nearest fast-travel point is the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower. Travel to the tower, and once you’re in the air, glide directly south until you can land on the flower-shaped island. We were able to make the trip with two full stamina wheels and several uses of Tulin’s wind gust, but be sure to bring stamina food or elixirs if you need them.
Once you land on the ancient tablet’s location, the tablet itself will fall into the desert below. Don’t forget to follow it down and snap a picture.
Tablet #12 – North Gerudo Sky Archipelago
- Location: North Gerudo Sky, south of Starview Island
- Coordinates: (-3608, -0948, 1597)
The twelfth – and last – Ancient Hyrulean tablet in Tears of the Kingdom can be found in the North Gerudo Sky Archipelago, just south of a big globe that’s actually Starview Island. To get to the tablet, travel to Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower and launch yourself into the air. From there, glide northeast – you’ll see a few bigger islands around the tablet that you can land on if you need to replenish your stamina, but be careful to avoid the constructs waiting there. Once you land on the flower-shaped island, be prepared for the tablet to fall to the surface and follow it down to get a picture.
Once you’ve collected photos of all twelve of the Ancient Hyrulean tablets in Tears of the Kingdom, don’t forget to return to Wortsworth in Kakariko village. Every time you give him a photo, he’ll give you 100 rupees, and once you’ve turned in all twelve, you’ll get the Zonai Survey Team Fabric.
