There are loads of items readily available to us in nearly any Phasmophobia haunt. But did you know about the Cursed Possessions that can only be found within a map? These items are extremely powerful but can bite back if you’re not too careful. Cursed Possessions are just that: Cursed. If you want to take advantage of the amazing capabilities they have, you have to be ready to put up a fight when you jump immediately into a Cursed Hunt, or the ghost becomes increasingly violent. While they can be quite a pain in the butt, they’re still well worth it, and you should know what each of the Cursed Possessions are and what they do.
Phasmophobia: Cursed Possessions
In total, there are currently seven Cursed Possessions within Phasmophobia, and each contain peculiar and unique mechanics that can make your gameplay much more… interesting.
- Music Box
- Helps to locate the position of the ghost.
- The Music Box opens when you pick it up, but it’s only activated when you interact with it.
- Even though the Music Box can only be used once, you can play it around the map, and if the ghost is within 20 meters of the box, it will sing along.
- If the ghost sings along, you will know the position of it, making collecting evidence much easier.
- If the ghost is within five meters of the Music Box, a Ghost event will begin which causes the ghost to walk toward the Music Box, and you. During this time, you can put the Music Box down on the floor so that the ghost does not reach you and begin a Cursed Hunt.
- Haunted Mirror
- Helps to locate the ghost’s favorite room.
- While you are on the map, if you find the Haunted Mirror, you can peer into it to get a peek of the ghost room.
- When you use the Haunted Mirror, you lose 7.5% Sanity per second, and if your Sanity drops to 0%, the mirror will crack.
- Whenever the Haunted Mirror cracks, a Cursed Hunt will begin, and the mirror won’t be able to be used again.
- Ouija Board
- Allows the player to ask the ghost questions.
- Once you find the Ouija Board and Planchette, you can begin to ask the ghost questions.
- The ghost may answer by spelling out words with the Planchette, but sometimes it can be shy and stop talking.
- After you’ve finished using the Ouija Board, make sure to say “Goodbye” so the board deactivates, otherwise it can break.
- The Ouija Board can break under many different circumstances, and a Cursed Hunt will begin if this happens.
- Summoning Circle
- Can summon the ghost.
- The Summoning Circle requires you to light five different candles surrounding it, each of which lowers the Sanity of nearby players by 16% for a total of 80% lowered altogether.
- Once activated, the Summoning Circle summons the ghost and traps it within the circle.
- Once the ghost is trapped, it will only stay for a total of five seconds, and immediately begin a Cursed Hunt after the five seconds is up.
- Tarot Cards
- Can begin ghost events and random effects on the ghost and player.
- Depending on the cards you draw, you can see increased ghost activity, raised or lowered Sanity, Ghost Events, Cursed hunts, ghost teleportation, revivals, and deaths.
- Voodoo Doll
- Can force ghost interactions.
- Ten pins stick out of the Voodoo Doll. Whenever you interact with the doll, one of the pins will be pushed in randomly.
- Each pin will cause the ghost to perform a random interaction and will drop the player’s Sanity by 5% while displaying an evidence type.
- If the heart pin gets pushed in, the player’s Sanity will drop by 10% and a Cursed Hunt will begin.
- Monkey Paw
- Grants the player’s wishes.
- Depending on the difficulty of the session, the Monkey Paw can grant up to five wishes, but they’re often very misleading. For instance, if you wish for your friend to be revived, you might be sacrificed for them to come back.
