Given how intricate the new area of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is, finding all map fragments first will make exploring much easier. Those familiar with the base game already know how to locate fragments easily in undiscovered zones. However, the Land of Shadow boasts a maze-like structure that can confuse even the most experienced Tarnished. Luckily, there are only five fragments in this DLC, which you can get in a matter of minutes if you skip a few enemies, dodge some dragon fire, and rush through the usual poison swamps.
Gravesite Plain
The first map fragment you’ll encounter in the Land of Shadow is extremely close to where you begin the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Once you get out of the cave, follow the main road, fight the new enemy who’s wielding chakrams, and right in the middle of the path, you’ll see the first structure holding the map fragment. We recommend activating the Site of Grace first before you delve deeper into the zone. While you won’t progress a lot, you’ll quickly see that enemies in the DLC hit harder than Malenia.
Southern Shore
The next map fragment from Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree you should get is the Southern Shore one. The road will be a long one, but you can skip most enemies and rush toward the fragment fast. To do so, head to the Castle Front Site of Grace. Do not enter Castle Ensis. Instead, take a right and follow the road south until you reach the poison swamps. At the bottom, you’ll see a small cave. Enter it and rush past the plants and Perfumers. Once you reach the Perfumers, take a right and exit the cave. Keep going until you spot some waterfalls and have to jump across stone pillars. Continue until you spot the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace. Follow the river until you see a Furnace Golem. Hugh the right wall until you exit to Cerulean Coast, and you’ll find the map fragment.
Scadu Altus
The map fragment for Scadu Altus might seem like a complicated one, but there are two ways to reach it. First, you can go through the Castle Ensis Legacy Dungeon. You must beat the final boss, exit through the gates, and follow the path until you reach the map fragment. Alternatively, you can skip the dungeon and do a bit of exploring to reach it.
If you follow the same route as the Southern Shore map fragment, instead of heading inside the cave, turn right and go uphill until you see a shack. Behind the shack, you’ll see a Spiritspring blocked by a Stone Cairn. You can unblock the air current by finding the real Stone Cairn and breaking it. To do so, keep climbing the ledges, and you’ll spot the stones at the top. Break them and ride the Spiritspings. You’ll land at Fort Reprimand. Go to the courtyard, cross it, and take the road that leads to the map fragment.
Rauh Base
The Rauh map fragment is one of the trickiest in Shadow of the Erdtree. To find it, you can head toward the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace, where you can fight Dryleaf Lane. Take a right until you spot a small lake full of Blue Worms. Cross it and enter the cave that’ll take you across a poisoned area. Follow the bird enemies until you find a clearing where there are two Golems, one with a bow and one with an axe. Keep following the path, and you’ll spot the map fragment outside of Temple Town Ruins.
Abyss Forest
The hardest map fragment lies at the heart of the Abyss, which you can only access after going through a dungeon. First, enter the Shadow Keep Legacy Dungeon, past the Hippopotamus, and onto the drawbridge. You’ll see a ladder going down from the drawbridge; use it. Once inside a room with “The Domain of Dragons” painting, turn right while facing the painting and hit the wall to open a secret passage. Enter the coffin and wait until you spawn in a new area. Follow the river downstream until you enter the Darklight Catacombs dungeon. Finish it and exit it to face Jori the Inquisitor. Defeat the boss and follow the path until you reach the Church Ruins; the map fragment is outside the dilapidated structure.
If possible, we recommend finding at least the first four map fragments in Shadow of the Erdtree, as they’ll make exploring much easier. However, you can also take your time and explore normally without rushing the map; it’s up to you. Ultimately, chances are you’ll discover everything this DLC holds. So, take it slow or rush it, but be careful because these lands are full of dangers ready to take you down at every turn.
