Times are never too dark for love to blossom. Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader gives you a few romance options, but love at first sight isn’t a thing here. Effort is needed on your end to romance some of your companions. And remember: not everyone is available to you. These characters have personal preferences that can make romancing them impossible. But with our guide, you will learn who you can romance and how you can get them to fall head over heels for you.
List of Romance Options in Warhammer 40K
As of now, Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader offers five romance options:
- Cassia Orsellio
- Heinrix van Calox
- Jae Heydari
- Yrliet Lanavyss
- Marazhai Aezyrraesh
Each of these romantic options comes with their own hurdles to climb. Throughout the game, you can pursue multiple characters at once as long as you align with their preferences. However, there will come a lock-in point where you must decide on a single romance option in Warhammer Rogue Trader.
Cassia Orsellio – Romance Option in Warhammer 40K
Preference: Male Rogue Traders
Our resident human mutant and navigator, Cassia’s romance in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is rather charming. She’s self-conscious about her mutations so the best way you can romance her in the game is to support and reassure her. Also, don’t forget her personal quests.
One of those reassurances comes early on in a conversation about how aware she is that some in the Imperium can find people like her repulsive. The best answer is the first one that states, “You are beautiful Cassia …“
From there, her romance in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is rather straightforward. Be sure you send birds to her room in Act 2 when you’re told to check on her. If not, you can find yourself locked out from pursuing her any further.
Heinrix van Calox – Romance Option
Preference: Female Rogue Traders
The rough interrogator of the group, Heinrix needs some convincing on his romantic path. Don’t let him fool you, though, he may not always seem friendly but Heinrix makes for a solid companion. The first way you can ensure to get on his romance path in Warhammer Rogue Trader is to complete any of his quests.
Next, your dialogue is vital. You can help change his viewpoint without completely going against him. It’s a way to offer an understanding of his behavior and beliefs. For instance, an important line to choose when he mentions regicide is the one that mentions you know how to play.
Another way to strengthen your connection with him is to choose the physical responses whenever they come up. Kissing, handholding, etc. will deepen your bond and ensure you end the game with him at your side.
Jae Heydari – Romance Option in Warhammer 40K
Preference: Male and Female Rogue Traders
In Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, Jae may be the easiest romance option. Everything about her exudes that she’s a natural leader, making her a highly approachable character. She’s a great friend, but she can make for an even better romantic partner.
The best thing you can do with Jae is to always choose the obvious flirty lines. From the beginning, you can ask her if someone has claimed her heart yet. It’s that simple to get her interested, so simply continue to choose options that show that you’re happy to be with her.
Most importantly, give her a gift. You can always interact with other companions about what she may like, but the best thing you can do is to gift her a planet. She will give you a gift as well, and you’ll know you’re on the right path.
Yrliet Lanavyss – Romance Option
Preference: Male and Female Rogue Traders
Yrliet is an Aeldari Ranger, an Elf who naturally does not trust humans. So, her romance path in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is not the simplest. Essentially, you may have to walk on eggshells. It’s easy for her to become annoyed with you, so do not choose the heavily flirtatious dialogue.
What you want to do is understand her. When you catch her meditating, don’t interrupt. She’ll appreciate the respect. Also, you don’t want to initiate any heavy physical contact like kissing. Instead, consider something lighter like holding or touching her hand.
Lastly, there is a rather big incident she’s involved in. Without spoiling the game, just remember to forgive her no matter what.
Marazhai Aezyrraesh – Romance Option
Preference: Male and Female Rogue Traders
If you want to romance the Drukhari character, your Rogue Trader may have to let some … unsavory things slide. Marazhai lives up to his people’s reputation, so he isn’t the easiest to initially romance. However, you can start on it not too long after you first encounter him in Chapter 3.
The key way to tackle this Warhammer 40K romance is to ensure your Rogue Trader defends and checks up on Marzazhai. For instance, after the “Suspicious Absence” quest, remember to order Ulfar and Argenta to lower their weapons. Later after you’ve helped him battle, choose the option to offer him hunting grounds on the lower decks.
For role-playing purposes, Marazhai may work better with Rogue Traders who are a little on the reckless side. Either way, he can be just as fulfilling of a romance as the rest of them.
