This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Chained Echoes is an engaging 2D RPG that gives a fun nostalgic feel without actually being a classic game. In it, you can recruit several players. However, some of these are optional and missable. With our guide, you will learn how to unlock all the secret characters in Chained Echoes. This way, you can have yourself a full roster throughout the game.

All Secret Characters in Chained Echoes

In Chained Echoes, you can encounter a variety of characters that will help you get through different sections and bosses. If you want to enjoy everyone in the game, you will have to look for the secret characters as well as the ones who automatically join up with you. These characters are hidden behind different sidequests. So, you will have to do some exploring if you want access to everyone.

So, who are all the secret characters in Chained Echoes? Well, there are only four, and we’ve listed them below:

  • Tomke
  • Mikah
  • Arcana Princess Magnolia
  • Raphael

Unlocking these characters isn’t necessary to complete the game since they are centered on sidequests. However, they do add a bit of extra story to the game beyond giving you more versatility in your battles. Plus, they have some unique dialogue when hanging out at the Clan Base.

Tomke

Tomke is the first secret character you can encounter and recruit in Chained Echoes. This can happen in Act II during “The Food, the Chap, and the Hungry” sidequest. He is certainly a fun character and worth recruiting. This is because he can learn skills once he eats an enemy. Yep, he’ll consume enemies that have the “Canned” option on them.

Because of this, you can make him the most balanced character in your lineup. This way, he is ready for anything you will encounter along the way.

Mikah

Out of all the secret characters in Chained Echoes, Mikah is the only one that is accessible after you unlock another optional character. In her case, you will need to recruit Tomke during “The Food, the Chap, and the Hungry” in Act II if you want her. Tomke is Mikah’s grandfather although he forgot her because of his memory loss.

She’s best used if you’re ready to execute skills in sequence, making her a combo-oriented fighter. When she uses one ability, another is powered up, giving her the chance to cause massive damage.

Arcana Princess Magnolia

Out of all the secret characters in Chained Echoes, Magnolia is pure magic-based. The path to unlocking her begins in Act II with the sidequest “Into the Maelstrom”. Afterward, you must complete the sidequest “Falfalran Sings the Fairy”. This occurs in Act IV in Tormund. When recruited, she interacts with Glenn a lot.

As we mentioned, Magnolia is magic-only with the highest MAG stat out of all the characters in the game. So, if you want to have a fun magic run, she’s worth unlocking. Another bonus is that she can manage all elements, making her highly adaptable.

Raphael

Raphael serves as the last character you can recruit in the game as well as the fourth overall secret character you can encounter in Chained Echoes. You can recruit him during the sidequest “A Will to Live” in Act IV. This will occur in Iden.

He shares some qualities with Egyl in that he can be a tank, but he also has great protection against magic. Even his Ultra Move will make the entire party immune to magical damage. Alongside that, he does some good physical light damage.

Chained Echoes is available on PC, Mac, PS4 and PS5 systems, Xbox One and Series systems, and Nintendo Switch.
