Every Spaceship in Starfield is comprised of multiple ship parts to create a singular pilotable vessel. Evidently, everyone can recognize the Cockpit as the section where you control and fly the spacecraft, while Cargo is the hold where you can store materials, resources, and equipment. However, there are several more Ship Modules that make up a ship in Starfield, and knowing the function of each part is essential during modification. It all might sound quite complicated at first, but every space adventurer must understand what every component does for proper intergalactic exploration. 

How Do Ship Modules Work in Starfield?

Every spacecraft in Starfield features a total of 13 ship modules you’ll have to manage. So you’re not overwhelmed, let’s examine what each part is called along with its function:

1 Weapons Damage Dealers
  • Your ship’s Weapons affect enemy ships differently in combat, depending on the damage type used. Energy affects shields, Ballistic, hill, and EM systems.
2 Bays Ship Entrance
  • Spaceship Landing Bays come equipped with an auto-deploying ramp for quick access to and from a planet’s surface.
3 Cargo Ship Inventory
  • Spaceship Cargo Modules increase your ship’s inventory space.
4 Cockpits Control Room
  • The Cockpit is where you control your ship and view your flight path.
5 Dockers Connection to Other Ships & Stations
  • Spaceship Dockers allow you to dock with and board another vessel or a starstation.
6 Engines Speed and Acceleration
  • Every Spaceship in Starfield needs Engines. Upgrade them to increase speed and acceleration. The mass of your entire ship will affect performance.
7 Fuel Tanks Extended Space Exploration
  • Space Fuel Tanks store Helium-3, which is used by the Grav Drive to perform a jump. Upgraded Fuel Tanks allow you plot longer courses, to travel farther without stopping.
8 Gear Landing Use
  • Auto-deploying Landing Gear allows your ship to touch down smoothly on even the roughest of terrain.
 9  Grav Drives Fast Travel Range Increase
  • A Graviton Loop Arrary, or Grav Drive, allows your ship to jump to other star systems. Upgrade to increase your jump range.
 10 Habs  Interior Customization
  •  Deimos Habitat Modules come in several different interior configurations, for a variety of personalization options.
11   Reactors Power Management
  •  Spacehip Reactors provide power to all of your ship’s systems.
12  Shields Ship Defense
  • Spaceship Shield Modules help protect your ship from incoming damage.
13  Structural Exterior Customization
  •  Structural components are largely cosmetic, and allow you to modify your ship’s shape, size, personality and silhouette.
