Amazon Bans New World Players: Amazon discovered a bug that allows gold to be duplicated in massive quantities and exploited by some New World Players. In the hours since the exploit was discovered, Amazon has issued a statement. The statement reminds players who intentionally exploit bugs against the game’s Code of Conduct and offenders will be banned. Amazon discovered the issue, followed by the release of update 1.0.3, which finally brought server transfers to the popular MMO.
New World Transferred Character and Can’t Log-in
Some players who attempted to transfer their characters to different servers faced a ” Character_Persist_Failure” error. If they tried to send gold to another player, then they logged off and back in. The gold traded away would see again reverting to their account. Gold dupe panic quickly spread on New World’s subreddit today. Amazon addressed the glitch in a statement and said that ” players found deliberately using this condition to gain advantage will be banned for exploiting. We will also remove items, or gold received where appropriate.”

As per Amazon’s forum statement.
“Some players among this small set transferred gold or items while their character was affected. All of these transactions are logged in our database. We are reviewing them now and any players found deliberately using this condition to gain advantage will be banned for exploiting. We will also remove items or gold received where appropriate. Going forward, as a precautionary measure, we may prevent login temporarily on characters in this state. If you are one of the rare people who transfers and afterwards cannot log in, the condition should automatically resolve within two hours. If it persists beyond that time please contact customer service.”
As per the Code of Conduct, it’s against the rules to exploit bugs or other unintended uses of game features. Amazon says,
“We reserve the right to determine what constitutes unfair play and to take corrective action we deem appropriate.” It’s unclear if players set to receive bans for the gold exploit will be permanently barred, or if this will earn a slap on the wrist.”
However, New World players driven economy fueled by raw goods and a gold standard, any exploit that magically generates more money could quickly get out of hand. So, what does this mean for Amazon, and is their reason for the bans of New World players justified?
