Andy Cohen has seen the bombshell claims that some believed would bring down Bravo. It’s been over a month since Vanity Fair published an exposé delving into the popular network’s treatment of its reality TV talent. Former housewives, as well as producers no longer affiliated with the relevant productions, made claims that the network turned the other cheek at excessive drinking and racial microaggressions from certain cast members.
The Bravo host assures all these issues were properly addressed as they came up
Appearing on The TODAY Show last week, Andy Cohen was asked his opinion on the claims made. The Bravo personality called the incidents discussed in the article “a factually incorrect rehash” of events.
“I think much of it had been reported already, and it lacked context,” Cohen said.
“You can say, ‘Oh, Andy did a poll comparing two Housewives’ bad nose jobs,’ and without any further explanation, that may cause you to raise your eyebrow,” he cited as an example. “But the continuation of the sentence would be ‘…after an episode of the Jersey ‘Housewives’ where two women compared what they described as their [own] bad nose jobs.'”
“So, I just thought that there was a lot of context missing,” he noted.
Andy Cohen notes that the incidents included in the piece “have been reported on and, most importantly, addressed by Bravo.”
“We’ve addressed each of the things that did happen, and we’ve moved forward,” he concluded.
Andy also asserted that people feel comfortable telling him when a situation has gone too far.
In the interview, Andy Cohen pointed out that he’s long been asking “incredibly personal, incredibly direct questions” of Bravo personalities.
“I think the show has a reputation of being the place that you go for uncensored, unpredictable fun,” he said of Watch What Happens Live.
He continued, “If I go too far, believe me — my audience calls me out, and so does the talent. I’ve had guests turn on me during the show. That is authentic and interesting TV, and I think it’s why people like the show.”
“I’ve had guests really get mad at me,” he acknowledged. “But I’ve also had many a Kardashian say, ‘I’m so glad we talked about that.'”
