Angel Reese fans are slamming New York-based rapper Joe Budden after he made interesting comments about her on his podcast. The WNBA superstar, who snatched a number of records during her rookie season, has been on everybody’s mind since winning the NCAA championship in 2023. Since then, her stock has gone way up, snagging brand deals with Beats by Dre, Airbnb, Reeses, and many others. The Chicago Sky rookie also makes the occasional appearance at star-studded events, including the Met Gala, Megan The Stallion concerts, and most recently, a Nick Cannon Wild ‘N Out event.
During a recent episode of his show, The Joe Budden Podcast, the rapper praised Angel for her historic rookie season. However, he also took a few shots and compared the basketball player to her league rival, Caitlin Clark.
Joe Budden Won’t Stay out of Women’s Business
On his podcast, Joe Budden made interesting comments about Angel Reese and her off-court behavior. When his co-hosts asked if the rapper saw Angel at the Wild ‘N Out event, Joe voiced his frustration with Angel and her team.
“I’ve seen Angel Reese wildin’ out; I don’t know if I’ve seen her on Wild N’ Out,” he said. “Angel Reese won’t sit her f*cking a*s down. She won’t go sit down somewhere for a second. There’s value in it.”
“This is going to sound like I’m telling women what to do,” he said (which it does), “But I ain’t.”
He continued, saying, “Whoever [Angel] got is telling her to go pop up everywhere… that’s not what Caitlin Clark’s people are saying. Not to make it a race thing… we just on some star rookie sh*t now.”
Joe concluded, adding, “All season, [Reese] keep[s] putting [her]self in the same box as Caitlin Clark, but there’s more than basketball,” he said. “It’s more than this.”
Angel Reese Fans Rip Joe Budden for Hating on Her
After the clip of Joe Budden speaking negatively about Angel Reese made its rounds, Angel fans, known as Reeses Pieces, shared their thoughts.
“Joe Budden saying Angel Reese needs to sit down is insane,” one user wrote. “Are yall ok? She literally getting to the bag. Whewwww, y’all really hate these young girls [who] are living life.”
Other fans seemed to agree with the above sentiment, mentioning Angel’s desire to be more than just a basketball player. When she started her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, the power forward discussed her goals, which included building a brand for herself.
“Angel has a brand outside of hoops,” a user wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “CC does not, to my knowledge. Tf [are] they chattin bout?”
Another user shared a similar sentiment. “Angel wants to be a brand outside basketball, which is great financially for her,” they commented. “As long as she continues to improve on court, it will actually make her off-court clout rise… so I ain’t mad at it.”
Before Angel and the Chicago Sky’s season concluded, Reese certainly made her presence known in the league. The 6’3″ star player, known as the Bayou/Chi-Town Barbie, led the league in rebounds. She also secured 15 consecutive double-doubles, the most by any WNBA player in the league’s history. Her season was cut short due to a wrist injury in September 2024. However, Reese fans can watch her when she hits the court again in January 2025, playing for a new 3×3 league, Unrivaled.
