Along with making inclines, a ladder is the best way to get around to higher cliffs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nevertheless, it’s a bit of a hassle to pull out one every time you need to climb and visitors to your island would also need to bring their own ladders since they are not permanent fixtures, unlike inclines. Thankfully the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update adds a much-needed feature that lets you build and put permanent ladders all over your island. Here’s how you can make a ladder and turn it into a permanent one in Animal Crossing: New Horizons version 2.0.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 – Unlocking the Ladder and Permanent Ladder
For the basic ladder, you will get the DIY Recipe after building your own home, building Nook’s Cranny, building the bridge, and placing three lots for Villagers’ homes. After all of that busy work, Tom Nook will call you via NookPhone and send the Ladder DIY Recipe. To craft a ladder, you will need:
- 4x softwood
- 4x wood
- 4x hardwood
To unlock permanent ladders, you will instead have to buy the Ladder Set-Up Kit Recipe for 2,000 Bells from Nook’s Cranny first. Once you have learned the permanent ladder recipe, you can craft a Wooden Ladder Set-up Kit and place ladders permanently on any cliff you want to access. You need only these two items to craft it:
- 1x Ladder
- 5x pieces of Wood
Although it is called a “permanent ladder”, you are still able to freely remove them if you need to move the ladders somewhere else. To remove the permanent ladder you have placed to a cliff, simply press Y to put it back into your inventory.
