Ready to dive into the crossover world where your favorite anime characters collide in epic battles? Before you jump into the portal, though, there are some basics that you should not miss out on. From five options for upgrading your units to approaching endgame content, we got it all. It might sound intimidating but don’t fret. Our Beginners Guide tutorial will help you get up to speed in the Roblox Anime Crossover Defense universe.
1. Anime Crossover Defense Tutorial: Keep an Eye on Your Units’ Upgrade Paths
Unlike most tower defense games, Anime Crossover Defense offers two different upgrade paths for all units. Oftentimes, the top path will increase their damage and transform their looks, giving additional properties to their attacks. Meanwhile, the bottom path increases most of their stats exponentially.
After purchasing three levels of a certain path, the other path will become locked at two levels maximum. That means you can’t max them all and must choose which upgrade path best fits your needs and play style.
Aside from the two upgrade paths, don’t forget that you can also set your units’ attack priorities:
- First: Focus on the first enemy in the row.
- Last: Focus on the last enemy in the row.
- Weakest: Focus on the weakest enemy in their attack range.
- Strongest: Focus on the strongest enemy in their attack range.
- Nearest: Focus on the enemy nearest to their position.
- Farthest: Focus on the enemy farthest to their position.
2. Always Clear Daily Quests for Freebies
This might sound obvious to fans of gacha games, but people unfamiliar with daily grinds might miss this important menu. Click on the “Quest” icon and you’ll see a number of missions that will reset every day. Clear them and press the “Complete” button once you are done to progress through the Daily Quests rewards bar. Every time you pass the 100-point milestones, you’ll be given rewards like Gems and Crystal Helixes.
At the moment, you can disregard the Infinite Quests though; they will be added in later updates. Speaking of Gems, don’t forget to check out our gift codes list for even more free items in the link below.
3. Anime Crossover Defense Beginners Tip: Do Not Neglect Battle Pass Even If You’re Not Premium!
Another feature that can be easily missed is the bonus rewards you get from the Battle Pass. Even if you’re a free-to-play user and not a Premium owner, always remember to check the Battle Pass. The progression is similar to Quests; there are Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Missions you must clear to progress.
For F2P enjoyers, progressing through at least Level 10 is very important! Because at Level 5 you will get a random Legendary unit and Mythical at Level 10. If you grind hard enough, at Level 40 you’ll also get Brocolli (Broly), another Mythical unit.
4. Anime Crossover Defense Beginners Tip: Complete the Story Mode Stages for One-Time Rewards
You’ll want to play all the Story Mode Stages to unlock all available content in the game and if you want to grind the Daily Quests and Battle Pass Missions. However, completing Story Mode has other benefits too; finishing a Stage for the first time will reward you with items. Ranging from Rift Orbs to Crystal Helix, these items will be crucial for upgrading your anime roster.
5. Anime Crossover Defense Tutorial: Always Check the Collection Menu After Unlocking New Units!
Beginners to Anime Crossover Defense could easily miss this feature. The “Collection” menu isn’t just a showcase for all of the units you’ve collected. If you click on the “Found” button below a unit’s icon, you’ll get bonus Gems and Helix Crystals. This is very useful to expand and upgrade your rosters even further.
6. Variety of Unit Upgrades, Explained
There are many ways to upgrade a unit in Anime Crossover Defense. But you don’t have to be confused, let’s take a peek at the basics of all the available upgrading options.
Prestige
You’ll gain access to the Unit Prestige and Ascension NPCs by going through the space portal next to the Laboratory. Prestiging a max leveled or Level 100 unit will reset their level but boost their damage by 20%. Capping at Prestige 5, this is especially useful for Mythical units like Modoro (Madara) and Brocolli (Broly).
Ascend
On the other hand, Ascending can be done by sacrificing units to raise the rarity of another. You will want to use this to power up lower-tier units such as Joe (Jotaro) or Carrot (Goku).
Rank Up
Head to the Laboratory and you can Rank Up your units, giving them bonus stat upgrades like +Damage %. After you reach Rank Level 5, prepare to burn through tons of duplicate units. You will need rare materials to upgrade them this way but you can hover over the material icons to learn where to farm them.
Traits
Meanwhile, rerolling Traits lets you give an additional passive bonus to a unit by spending Crystal Helixes. Rarity levels separate them all and we have listed all currently known Traits below:
Rarity | Trait | Description |
---|---|---|
Impossible (0.2%) | Omnipotent | Increase Damage by 140%, Speed and Range by 10%, but reduce the Unit’s max placement amount to 1 |
Doppelganger | Increase unit placement amount by 1, Damage by 50%, Range by 25%, Speed by 10%, and 10% Cost Reduction | |
CEO | Increase Coin Generation by 30%, Cost Reduction by 25%, Range by 40%, Damage by 20% and Speed by 10% | |
Mythical (1%) | Innovator | Increases Coin Generation by 25%, Cost Reduction by 10%, Range by 25%, and Speed by 10% |

Legendary (15%) | Super Sonic | Increases Speed by 15% |
Hawkeye | Increases Range by 50% | |
Radiant | Increases Damage by 25% | |

Range | Increases Range by 25% | |
Strength | Increases Damage by 10% | |
Rare (63.8%) | Speed | Increases Speed by 5% |

Strength | Increases Damage by 5% |
Transfer Power
In the Summon area, you can also transfer the Power level of one unit to another. For example, you have a Byakari (Byakuya) with 150 Power then pull another one with 200 Power. You can keep your old Byakari but power him up by giving the new one’s Power level.
7. Challenge and Artifact Rift, Explained
Once you’ve done the Story Mode and upgraded your units to their maximum potential, then you can try tackling on the Rifts. Challenge and Artifact Rifts are the endgame content of Anime Crossover Defense.
Challenge Rift
The orange-colored portal is the best method of collecting rare rewards including Gems. While it contains increasingly tougher levels, the Rift’s progress is permanent. It will not reset even after massive updates or new seasons. Once you cleared a floor you won’t be able to replay or farm it again.
Below are the items you’ll get by completing Challenge Rifts:
Item | Description |
---|---|
Gems | Currency for summoning units |
Rift Orbs | Currency for using Artifact Rift |
Legendary Rift Orbs | Currency for using Artifact Rift |
Matrix Module | Currency needed to Prestige a unit |
Universal Fabric | Currency for turning a unit into Primal, boosting their stats even further |
Unit Duplicator | Create a copy of a chosen Unit with new Power. But does not copy Primal and Shiny stats as well as Traits or Level |
Dream Matrix | Prestige a unit without restarting their levels |
Fallen Star | Turn a unit into a Shiny |
Artifact Rift
By spending Rift Orbs, you can farm stat-boosting Artifacts for your units in Artifact Rift. Completing this Rift will reward you with three main bonuses:
Reward | Explanation | Drop Rate |
---|---|---|
Artifacts | Equippable gear for your units which boosts their stats and can be upgraded. Mythic Artifacts with Primal status gain additional buff | Rift Orb: – Epic: 80% – Legendary: 15% – Mythic: 5% |
Legendary Rift Orb: – Epic: 50% – Legendary: 35% – Mythic: 5% | ||
Bottled Essence | Material for upgrading Artifacts | 25% |
Artifact Remnant | Currency for buying Artifacts in the Artifact Shop. The Shop isn’t accessible at the moment | N/A |
Rift Affixes

8. Anime Crossover Defense Tutorial: Unit Rarity Indicator and The Best Characters to Pull
As mentioned above, Gems can be obtained through various means. Nevertheless, you’ll want to save them for special occasion– aka when the Summon Banner is good. Of course, you will want to fill your team with Mythical units. Nevertheless, there are exceptions to the rule and some Mythical can be more specialized than others. Here’s our basic tier list for the best units in Anime Crossover Defense:
Tier | Unit | Rarity |
---|---|---|
S+ | Modoro (Madara) | Mythical |
White Moustache (Whitebeard) | Mythical | |
Time Maid (Sakuya) | Mythical | |
Butterfly (Shinobu) | Legendary | |

9. Anime Crossover Defense Beginners Tips for Paying Players
Lastly, before we end this Beginners Guide Tutorial, there are two tips that any paying Anime Crossover Defense players should not miss.
- Buy the Pilot Pass and log in every day for bountiful rewards. It has a higher price-to-value ratio than just buying currency bundles.
- If you really want to get the VIP, grab the 6-month option. You might be thinking you won’t be able to log in often and save Robux by buying the monthly option. However, it will be more expensive and less rewarding in the long run instead.
Roblox Anime Crossover Defense is available on PC, mobile devices, PlayStation, and Xbox.
