Apex Legends is coming to Steam. It’s also coming to Switch. And best of all, it’s going to have cross-play this fall. During Thursday’s EA Play Live, Electronic Arts announced the Battle Royale game is landing on new platforms later this year.
The idea that Apex Legends would land on Steam isn’t that much of a surprise. EA has been porting over most of its catalog to the platform over the summer. The company announced seven new games landed on Thursday as a matter of fact.

What is a bit of a surprise, though not a total shock, is the eventual arrival on Switch. Until this fall, mobile and Nintendo’s console was the only platform the title wasn’t offered.
The biggest piece of news, and one that Apex Legends players have been asking for almost since the game first launched, is cross-play. It appears that when the game comes to the Switch, EA will also be dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on making sure that everyone can play each other, no matter what they are playing it on.
This certainly isn’t the biggest news in video games over the last few weeks. It was a pretty nice way to open the EA Play Live show.
