Whether you believe that Technology will one day indeed take over the world, its purpose has always been to enhance human health and lifestyle. Thanks to Fitness wearables like the Apple Watch and Fitbit will soon be able to fully diagnose health symptoms by design, not by chance.

Alongside the 10th Anniversary of the iPhone and iPhone X reveal, Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 3. The company’s new watch will feature a barometric altimeter to track your elevation, can now stream music and connect to a cellular network. While all those additions are certainly helpful and handy, the most important feature will be something called Heart Study.

Apple Watch

In collaboration with Stanford Medicine and the FDA (Federal Drug Administration), the feature will use data gathered from a user’s Apple Watch to detect irregularities in heart rhythms, including potentially serious conditions like atrial fibrillation. The device be able to monitor for and flag irregularities in pulse as well, varying from current systems and products that simply chart them without alerting the user.

The idea of monitoring health and vitals with existing technology has been talked about for quite a bit now, especially for Apple. Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs envisioned using wearable monitors to track blood sugar and other vital signs before he passed away.

There is no telling just how efficient Apple Watch’s Heart Study will be until the full product has been released, but from what we’ve seen so far, the tracking process and documentation is a step in the right direction for things. Hopefully this will be the start of a tech boom for the Health industry and not just a way for Skynet to learn and monitor human weaknesses for their impending takeover.
