The Aquaman 2 main trailer drops on Thursday, September 14. Ahead of the official release date, Warner Bros. teased fans with a 30-second trailer of Aquaman 2 spotlighting Black Manta’s faceoff against Arthur Curry. Fans of DC’s Aquaman have anticipated the showdown between Black Manta and Aquaman in the former’s vengeful quest to avenge his father. After several delays and speculations about the sequel getting shelved, the premiere of the big confrontation is merely three months away, with the wild trailer further heightening the anticipation.
DC Releases Aquaman 2 Trailer
The studio unveiled the short teaser for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on Sunday, September 10. The teaser did a flash run through the action-packed movie, with the highlight being a glimpse of the massive fight. The trailer gears off with an exhausted Arthur standing on a magnificent beachfront, soaking wet. It then cuts to a cluster of rage-driven underwater creatures ready to wreak havoc. Between the rapid glimpses of action-packed scenes, the Aquaman 2 trailer slowed down long enough to capture Black Manta declaring “I’m going to Kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear.”
His vengeful declaration sets the premise for the rest of the Aquaman 2 trailer, including Arthur’s discovery of his father’s house in flames. One could tell at a glance that it was the work of Black Manta. Viewers also saw a glimpse of Aquaman and Black Manta’s square off, albeit in a flash. The teaser, although brief, gives a much-needed idea of what to expect when the movie hits theatres.
What to Expect on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Aquaman 2 premieres on December 20, with the trailer debut marking the start of its promotional campaign. Notably, the James Wan-directed film would see Jason Momoa reprise his role as Arthur Curry (the Aquaman). Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also returns to Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as the villainous Black Manta. Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman remain Orm and Atlanna respectively. Despite earlier calls for her replacement amid her Johnny-Depp controversy, Amber Heard would reprise her role as Atlantis queen, Mera. A summary of the upcoming sequel on DC’s platform read partly,
“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all.”
Black Manta would return more formidable than ever, unleashing a malevolent force with the power of the mythic Black Trident. Faced with the revamped enemy, Aquaman would be forced to turn to his imprisoned brother, Orm to jointly protect Atlantis, the world, and everything they hold dear. A 30-second trailer hardly does justice to this premise, but it certainly got fans pumped up enough to stick to their promise of seeing Aquaman 2 once it hits theatres.
