Lightning is one of the best Magic in Arcane Odyssey, as it can remove many of the effects of other Magics, including bleeding. In addition, if you use it underwater, you can deal bonus AoE damage.
On the other hand, Metal can apply Bleeding to your enemies. Therefore, the longer the battle lasts, the higher your chances of winning. However, if you progress long enough, you will be able to learn other types of Magic besides the one you chose at the beginning of Arcane Odyssey.
