No one can deny the massive success of Riot Games with its games, mainly League of Legends. It is a game in which players with a little bit of experience know that it hides magnificent lore, which motivated the company to start creating its Arcane series in 2021. However, the release date of Arcane Season 2 is approaching three years later, and it has many points to resolve in its plot, but more importantly, in terms of its characters.

Piltover and Zaun, More Than Two Cities
Not only are they very different cities despite their proximity, but they also contain a lot of subtext that affects all the characters in this series, mainly duality. Piltover is the city of progress, of “good” and wealth, while Zaun is always described as dangerous, where shady businesses proliferate, and poverty is rife. Just because of their origins, the characters already carry a heavy background, although some can overcome this difference. An example is Vi, who, despite being from Zaun, tries to do the right thing, to maintain a certain status quo unconsciously, which leads her to be on Caitlyn’s side. From the trailer, it seems that in season 2, she becomes an officer.
However, the main focus of this second part is the impending war between Piltover and Zaun, a way to counter the injustices and great ostracism to which Piltover has subjected Zaun and its people. In addition, Ambessa Medarda will be a character that will trigger many conflicts due to her anger over the fateful end of her daughter. Also, the people of Zaun are fed up with the classism and poverty of being so long in the shadow of the big city, Piltover. Here intervenes who will be the heir of Silko, and Jinx seems to have the role of being the Mockingjay of destruction.
Character Consilidation
In 2021, Arcane focused on presenting the roles of each character and showing their background. Although Vi, Jace, and Jinx, in the end, became basically the characters they are in LoL, others like Caitlyn, Viktor, or Heimerdinger still have a long way to go. This will also depend a lot on what direction the producers take. In the case of Caitlyn, in the trailer, we see that she just got her Hextech weapon, with which she will surely have the same skills as the game. Also, in Archane season 2, she will finally have her character development to become the leader she portrays in the game, a more self-confident person, out of her parents’ bubble of privilege.
Also, for now, Heimerdinger is very different from his LoL self, although he is still determining if he will follow his path to become a mad scientist. Meanwhile, Viktor’s story focuses on his friendship with Jayce, which the MOBA mentions. Although his jealousy of Jayce is shown in the first part, and it is clear that Viktor is on the path to losing his humanity.
Cast
Fortunately, all the voice actors from the cast of the first part return to Arcane season 2, but if you don’t know all of these characters from all of them, you’ll find them all in Arcane season 2:
- Hailee Steinfeld – Vi
- Kevin Alejandro – Jayce
- Harry Lloyd – Viktor
- Amirah Vann – Sevika
- Katie Leung – Caitlyn
- Ella Purnell – Jinx
- Mick Wingert – Heimerdinger
- Reed Shannon – Ekko
- Ellen Thomas – Ambessa Medarda
- Brett Tucker – Singed
However, there are many theories about the series’ characters, and the most repeated one is that Vander could reappear. Since Vander was corrupted by the Shimmer of Singed, he could make a comeback as Warwick as a result of horrible experiments with his body. We’ll have to wait and see what Arcane Season 2 has in store for its release date in November 2024.
