There are always enemies you should be wary of in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You will encounter monsters of different builds anywhere you go in the wild. Be ready for a fight whether you decide to take on a solo enemy or a group in Monster Forces. One of the best ways to gauge how much of a threat they are is to look at their color. Monsters with certain colors are generally considered tougher opponents, with gold enemies being the stronger Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. With that in mind, are there gold monsters in the sequel to Breath of the Wild?
Are There Gold Monsters in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?
As of this writing, gold enemies are not in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Silver is the toughest enemy color you will run into for basic enemies you encounter. These are monsters like Bokoblins, Moblins, Horriblins, Hinox, and Lynels. Boss enemies you encounter do not have color variants and will always appear in the same form.
While there are no gold enemies in Tears of the Kingdom yet, there is definite room for them to appear in the future. In Breath of the Wild, gold monsters debuted alongside Master Mode, which was added post-launch with DLC. At the moment, Tears of the Kingdom does not have Master Mode, which could very likely be held back for DLC again.
If gold enemies are ever added to the game, it will likely be in some kind of future update. We recommend paying attention to any future Nintendo Directs that discuss future expansion plans.

The difference between monsters of different colors mostly comes down to the hidden numbers inside them. For example, red monsters are seen as the basic form and are easily taken care of. Blue enemies are a little tougher with more health. Black enemies are next, often seen as having leadership roles in groups of enemies. Finally, silver enemies are the strongest, with the most health and dealing big-time damage when they hit you.
While enemies with higher-tier colors are stronger, they also drop better materials. You will get some basic materials like guts and fangs from any of these monsters, but there will also be the higher rarity and fuse power items denoted by their color. Fuse these into your weapons for the best damage and durability increases.
