Not everything that glitters is gold

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

The enemies in Tears of the Kingdom are much more frightening than those in Breath of the Wild, especially since you can encounter enemies with different difficulty tiers roaming around Hyrule. Among these tiers of enemies is the more difficult silver tier, consisting of enemies with silver accents. Typically, the next tier would be gold enemies. However, I haven’t come across any during my playthrough. Let’s review whether there are gold enemies in Tears of the Kingdom or not.

Where Are the Gold Enemies in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

(Updated on September 10, 2024 – additional information and new images added)

Unfortunately, there are no gold enemies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The tier of monsters existed in the previous installment, but they don’t in this one. I always thought that they’d be included in an official Master Mode of the game, but one hasn’t been released. Ideally, they’ll return to provide players who feel like there’s nothing left to do in the game with an additional challenge.

The available tiers of enemies you can come across in TOTK are:

  • Red.
  • Blue.
  • Black.
  • Silver.

What Are Gold Enemies?

Gold enemies are basically the most difficult enemies you can come across in some Zelda games. More specifically, they’re only found in Oracle of Seasons, The Minish Cap, and Breath of the Wild. They are golden in color and prove to have far more health and battle experience than any other enemy.

In the latter, the enemies you’d come across in the overworld included:

  • Golden Bokoblin.
  • Golden Moblin.
  • Golden Lizalfos.
  • Golden Lynel.

You could always download a Master Mode mod to include the gold enemies, but those enemies aren’t in the real version of the game. The mod makes the gameplay significantly more difficult and engaging for players willing to take on the challenge.
