Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO knocked it out of the park in many ways and hooked a lot of players for many months, but things eventually became a bit stale. Yet, there are those looking for a new fight constantly, and they might’ve gotten one in an accessible way. Out of all Dragon Ball games out there, there’s one that lets you create your character, customize it, and use abilities from the manga and anime. I’m talking about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which just landed on Xbox Game Pass.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is one of the new Xbox Game Pass games of May 2025. For the unaware, this title isn’t your typical anime fighting game. Instead of following the well-known Dragon Ball story, Xenoverse 2 takes a crack at a different timeline with what-if scenarios. You’re a Time Patroller tasked with fixing these scenarios. Imagine if Raditz hadn’t been killed by Piccolo. Your character is the one fixing these time shenanigans, and you can do it by being any of the iconic races in the game. There are humans, Saiyans, and the Frieza and Buu races. All of them have unique skills and transformations. For instance, Saiyans can unlock all Super Saiyan transformations, and even the recent Beast Form. On top of that, you can customize them however you want. From Goku’s Gi to Broly’s wig, it’s a Dragon Ball runway from start to finish.

Another great thing about Xenoverse 2 is that it’s still getting updates. The developers add that content as DLC whenever a new movie or anime arc comes out. Some of this DLC includes new what-if scenarios full of cutscenes on top of the unlockable outfits and skills. Plus, there’s a lot of PvE content for players who don’t like PvP, but also a lot of the latter if you dare face other players who have better builds than you.

Even Without the DLC, There’s a Lot of Content in the Base Game

Many will tell you that the DLC is necessary in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, but that’s not the case. There’s a lot of playtime if you stick to the base game only. Besides the main story, which has interesting scenarios, there’s a master system. You can find characters from the series and train under them to unlock their skills. If you ever wanted to spam Solar Flare, just find Krillin and become his pupil. However, the true endgame is the Xenoverse fashion, at least for me. If you want a specific outfit, you’ll have to grind Parallel Quests, which are even more what-if fights. Oh, and you can bring a friend with you if you don’t want to do it all alone.

In truth, it is great to see more anime games landing on Game Pass. Previously, we didn’t see many of them on this platform. But now, it is brimming with them, and they are accessible to many gamers who don’t want to spend a lot of money. So, if you want to try this unique Dragon Ball fighting game, check the Game Pass catalog today and join the fight.
