Ariana Grande might have taken things too far this time. With the recent release of the music video for Boy Is Mine featuring Penn Badgley, Grande got candid about her unusual interest in serial killers. Grande confessed casually that she has a particular interest in one of the world’s deadliest serial killers. However, fans found her comment offensive and slammed her heavily.
Grande, during an appearance on the Podcrushed podcast with Badgley, admitted she has a liking for serial killers.
“I was infatuated with serial killers when I was younger,” the 30-year-old confessed. The two-time Grammy winner recalled an incident involving a younger fan when she was forced to speak on the incident. “Years ago, before the Dahmer series, I was in a Q&A with young fans. Someone said, ‘If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, honey, you’re so cute. Um, Mom and Dad, is it okay if I give the real answer?'”
Grande continued,
“And I was like, ‘Jeffrey Dahmer’s pretty fascinating. I think I would have loved to have met him, maybe with like a third party or something. But I have questions.’ And the parents were like, ‘We’ll explain it later, sweetheart.'”
Jeffrey Dahmer is a known American serial killer who raped, killed and dismembered 17 boys between 1978 and 1991. Popularly known as the Milwaukee Monster, Dahmer’s murders involved necrophilia and cannibalism. His life story and kills were depicted in the Nextflix limited-series thriller Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
Fans Slam Ariana Grande For Jeffrey Dahmer Comment
Grande’s casual comment about Dahmer and serial killers didn’t sit well with fans, who wasted no time criticizing her on X. “What a weird thing to say,” remarked one fan while another wondered, “During Pride she disclosed this?” A third fan wrote, “I understand the intrigue of true crime but this thought probably should have been kept secret.” A fourth similar comment read:
“Wtf. No way. Stop romanticizing serial killers especially in 2024 it’s not cute, Ariana.”
A disappointed fan stated, “I lost a little respect for her,” while another described the 7 Rings artist as “unhinged.” Things aren’t looking too good for Ariana Grande.
