An Arizona woman named Laura Michelle Owens is in hot water after it was revealed that she faked a pregnancy and created false documents claiming that she had conceived a child with former star of The Bachelor, Clayton Echard. The woman reportedly lied about being pregnant with the reality TV star’s baby and even sued him for child support before claiming to have had a miscarriage. Now, she’s facing legal consequences for her con.
According to NBC News, Scottsdale, Arizona, native, Laura Michelle Owens, 34, is now facing seven counts from her alleged pregnancy scheme against Clayton Echard. Of course, the reality star is thrilled to put the nightmare in the past.
In May and June of 2024, Owens reportedly fabricated an ultrasound photo and video, as well as lied under oath several times about the pregnancy with The Bachelor star. The woman originally filed a lawsuit looking to get child support from Echard, who maintained that the woman was making up false claims against him.
This week, Clayton spoke out about the turn in the case.
“This nightmare is over,” he said. “I am so ready to not have to think about this anymore. I want to say thank you to [Maricopa County Attorney] Rachel Mitchell and the investigators for serving up justice. I want to thank my lawyers. They’ve been incredible standing by my side.”

Echard’s fans didn’t hesitate to share their support on his post, revealing their happiness that the worst seemed to be behind him.
“Really happy for you! Must feel great to have this behind you!” one person wrote.

Echard is no stranger to controversy. His season of The Bachelor ended in a surprise twist when he chose Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia as his final two, but backtracked and left the women in tears when he opted to pursue a relationship with already eliminated contestant, Susie Evans.
Now, Clayton Echard can put the drama behind him and focus on the things he loves, which he claims are dancing, his job in real estate, speaking out about mental health issues, and his podcast. The Arizona reality star now has a fresh outlook now that Owens’ pregnancy scheme has blown up.
