It is always sad that players get promised something and the developers don’t follow through. This is something that is happening to one of the most famous survival games out there. Ark: Survival Evolved is now changing to Ark: Survival Ascended and the promised free update of it might not happen at all. According to the developers, the original game is set to shut down later this year and owners will have to buy it again. As you might imagine, the whole community is furious about this news as they’ll be paying double for a game they already have.
Ark: Survival Ascended requires players to pay again for the “Free” update
Sadly, the update won’t be free at all. After many sad announcements from the people behind the survival game, players will have to pay for the game again. Those who want to play Ark: Survival Ascended must buy the game or bundle again. PlayStation players will pay $39.99 and Xbox players will pay $49.99. The latter includes the second game which also got delayed.

The decision about scratching the “Free” update of Ark: Survival Ascended is strange as it was already announced that players wouldn’t pay. It is only fair that many gamers are angry at the developers right now. While some titles have charged for their updates like Persona 5, it is still bad that this is happening. Other games like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has given their updates for free even if they aren’t in the best shape at launch. We hope that this backlash changes how the developers are thinking and actually give the update for free. If not, you only have until August to play in the original official servers before they shut down for the next update.
