It’s normal to consider your dog as part of your family. Many people would do anything for their dogs, and this is what one Arkansas woman did. Her dog was dying, and she decided to take her mom and drive to the nearest vet. Due to her panic, she kept driving and cut off traffic as well. This caused a chase with a police officer. Officer Holly Romero was the one at the scene, and she can only be described as a heartless person. When the dog owner pulled up at the vet, Romero got out to arrest her. Despite the woman saying, “I gotta get my dog to the vet,” Romero then says, “I don’t give a shit.” The owner even says, “He’s about to die.” The officer’s response? “I don’t care.”
In a longer video taken of the chase, your heart keeps breaking. The Arkansas woman tried to resist the arrest to save her dog, but the officer quickly handcuffed her. As she got into the back of the police car, you see and hear her sobbing and sniffing while saying, “He had a heartbeat,” and “I killed you.” To make matters worse, it appeared that the vet was closed. While her daughter was under arrest, the mother kept going around the vet trying to get inside. After several minutes, someone lets her in. At this point, you have no doubt that the dog won’t make it. Even if it had a chance at survival, the officer took it away. She could have let them drive to another vet instead of wasting time trying to find someone to help them. She could have allowed them to get help and then arrested the woman for what she did.
What Happens Next
The video kept going for several minutes, and during that time, the woman couldn’t stop crying. The officer ignores her state and starts telling her, “You ran a light, cut into traffic, and almost ran somebody. You could have killed somebody.” Later on, another officer arrives at the scene, and Officer Romero gets inside the dog owner’s car to take the keys. Instead of doing this, she moves the car from its place by mistake. She then proceeded to laugh when she stopped the car and took the keys. Someone’s dog is dying, and you are standing there laughing while they can’t stop crying. Heartless.
Romero then informs the other officer of the charges she would press. “I wrote her down for felony fleeing, resisting arrest, failure to yield to traffic, improper passing,” she said. While everyone hoped that the dog made it, several people confirmed that it died. During her breakdown, the woman tried to explain to the new officer what happened. It appears from what she said that her dog was hit because she didn’t lock the door properly, and her cat got outside, which scared it and made it run away. It’s all heartbreaking. You know what’s the worst thing about this? The owner didn’t even get to say goodbye to her dog.
People Reacting to the Death of the Arkansas Dog
Almost everyone who saw the video felt as heartbroken as the Arkansas woman. One woman even wrote, “This pisses me off. I can’t even watch it. I hope she was fired.” Others made ill wishes toward the officer due to how she reacted. “I hope this cop gets exactly what she deserves in life, which is nothing. She deserves nothing but. Misery,” someone wrote. Another person replied and said, “Death, completely, slowly.” The dog died in the same way. Others hoped that Romero would be fired. “Hope she’s not a cop anymore,” one person wrote. It’s more than likely that she won’t be fired. To the police, she was doing her job. Doing her job, however, meant losing her humanity.
Someone else hinted that they would have reacted differently if it were their dog. “if my dog died bc of this I promise you they’d have way worse charges for me after,” they said. Another person found it unbelievable that the officer said I don’t care when she was informed that the dog was dying. “‘My dog is dying!!’ ‘Idc’ CRAZYYYY,” they commented. Unfortunately, a lot of people sided with the officer. Some comments even said, “its actually a great cop,” “The driver should have stopped. The driver could have killed others,” and “Its just a dog……Im with the cop here!” These people have never raised an animal and it shows. I honestly hope that the Arkansas woman will heal from this traumatizing event and that she won’t keep blaming herself.
