FromSoftware has just announced the sales numbers of its latest game in its long-running mech-combat series, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, which has officially sold over 3 million units globally and we’ve even heard rumors of a possible DLC expansion. This reveal was coupled with gratitude towards fans for their continuous support since the game’s release last year in August 2023. What makes these sales figures so impressive is that the game hasn’t even been out for a complete 12 months.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has gotten “Very Positive” reviews since its release and the community hasn’t dropped in numbers either. The game has been getting continuous updates over the last few months, the most recent one was a Ranked Match Season update that came out this month, and another one will follow soon in September 2024. The last major update that really shook up the game came out in February 2024.

Fans have been clamoring for a DLC expansion for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon similar to what Shadow of the Erdtree was to Elden Ring. While an expansion of that scale isn’t something we’ve seen out of the Japanese developer, a smaller expansion is still in the cards.

Although there has not been an official reveal for a DLC, FromSoftware is hiring people for more Armored Core 6 content. The job listing was specifically related to modeling robots. And being a Japanese developer, FromSoftware has a solid track record of retaining its staff and has confirmed it will not be laying off any of its employees anytime soon.

Now would be the ideal time to announce a DLC expansion with the sales of Armored Core 6 being as good as they are, and considering the success of Shadow of the Erdtree, it might become a reality sometime soon. FromSoftware has shown interest in co-op experiences in the future, and this is the ideal game for that.
