As Fall approaches for America, so does the beginning of new seasons for shows from DC’s Arrowverse and Riverdale. One thing’s for sure – for the TV-loving comic book nerd, there’s everything to look forward to. Not only are old shows returning, but new ones are running, too.
CW’s next season will begin in early October, kicking off on Sunday the 6th with a female tag-team line-up of Supergirl and Batwoman. Supergirl (starting at 7 pm that night) continues to be a popular and well-received Arrowverse show and will no doubt act as a warm burst of familiarity before viewers jump into the inaugural season of Batwoman at 8 pm. This show, starring Ruby Rose as Kate Kane and her bat-themed alter-ego, has been the subject of much controversy in recent times due to its trailer, perceived by a few as feminist propaganda. Still, we’ll see how good it is when it airs.
But if you’re more of a fan of the scarlet speedster himself, then fellow Arrowverse show The Flash will continue airing on October 8th. This show, which started back in 2014, is on its sixth season and continues to enjoy a flash-like burst of popularity. It was placed 23rd on Rolling Stone’s list of the 40 Best Science Fiction TV Shows of All Time.
It will return again on the 15th, followed immediately by the show that started it all at 9 pm the same night- Arrow. The premiere will kick off a ten-episode final season which will tie into the ambitious Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse event
But that’s not the only cool news – fans of the Archie Comics-inspired (well, loosely-inspired) Riverdale can not only catch up on the fourth season premiere on Wednesday, October 9th but also look forward to spin-off Katy Keene airing midseason (exact date to be specified). Fans of Arrowverse show DC’s Legends of Tomorrow can also expect to see it air midseason.
