Artem Chigvintsev is trying to waltz his way back into estranged wife Nikki Garcia’s life. The couple has made headline news recently because of their divorce and his arrest. But despite their issues, the DWTS pro isn’t giving up on his marriage.
According to Us Weekly, a source says that “Artem has wanted to reconcile with Nikki. He doesn’t want the family to be divided, and [would love] to put this behind them.”
Chigvintsev was arrested on August 29 for domestic violence following a dispute at the couple’s Napa Valley home. Two weeks later Garcia filed for divorce, and charges against him were dropped due to lack of evidence.
Earlier this month, Garcia and Chigvintsev filed restraining orders against each other, giving their version of what happened the morning of his arrest. Artem alleges his wife was the “primary aggressor” and threw a shoe at him. He then ran upstairs with their son Matteo and locked themselves in a bedroom. Garcia claimed when she tried to enter the room, Chigvintsev tackled and pinned her to the ground. Garcia admitted to attacking her husband to get him off of her as she felt she was suffocating.

Despite the ugliness of the situation, Chigvintsev is hopeful of a reunion with his estranged wife. However, there’s no going back for Garcia
”Nikki wants to move forward,” the source explains. Although Chigvintsev is upset there won’t be a reconciliation, he will “respect [Nikki’s] wishes and boundaries.”
While the pair were spotted together on September 19 with their son, these days there’s “minimal communication” between them.
As their divorce gets underway, they’ll have a lot to work out with custody and financial arrangements. But “they both want to do what’s best for them.”
