At just 24, Isan Elba is making it clear that reality TV fame isn’t on her vision board. Despite repeated invitations and even special treatment, the daughter of actor Sir Idris Elba says stepping into the Love Island villa is a hard pass. And she’s not mincing words about why.
Isan Elba Rejects Love Island After VIP Fast-Track Offer: ‘I would be cussing everybody out’
Isan took to Instagram to reveal how she has been invited by the show organizers: “For the past few years without fail, I have been invited to go on Love Island.” She added, “They have even offered for me to skip the line and go straight to the final interview. that is exactly why I would never go on Love Island.”
Her reasoning? Blunt and unfiltered. “Those challenges are a humiliation ritual. There is no way in hell I could be practically naked, making out with multiple people in front of millions of viewers…” “I am too awkward to kiss somebody on camera, let alone give lap dances.”
And she didn’t stop there. “Number two, I’m a man hater. There is no way that I’d be putting up with the BS that the men do on that show. I would be cussing everybody out, and that is not good for the brand.” “It takes a certain type of personality to go on that show.”
Isan has mentioned earlier in an interview that her sights are set on the film industry. “I want to be a producer. I grew up on film sets and I’ve been around that my entire life so it was kind of a no-brainer.”
In the caption, she joked that the only scenario where she’d consider stepping into the villa would be as a DJ, though she admitted she’d still tune in to watch.
Social Media Weighs In on Her Decision
Her candid take sparked plenty of reactions in the comment section of her post. One commenter wrote, “Only brave could go on that show I’m too shy for that 😂.”
While another admitted, “I can’t even watch shows like that 😭 I don’t like how they treat dark skinned Black women. triggered!” Isan replied directly: “THAT PART. Like I’m already tired.. 😭”
Another user warned, “I find the experience to be a bit harder and unforgiving on black women, especially dark skin, black women. So just know you are saving yourself a lot of trouble. They do not protect black women.”
When someone brought up a controversial moment, writing, “The milk challenge from the last season was absolutely disgusting !!” Isan quipped back, “I didn’t see it and now I don’t want to 🤣” One final comment summed up the mood: “Respect to you and who raised you. That’s rare sensibility from celebrity children.”
