Everyone’s favorite chainsaw-handed deadite killer, Ashley Williams, is returning to our screens this fall. Bruce Campbell will be reprising the role that got him started, and he will be kicking ass and taking names in a sequel-show entitled Ash vs. Evil Dead. Today at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that the show will premiere on October 31st at 9:00 PM.
What better way to spend Halloween night than blasting off heads with our old friend?
Sam Raimi, who has writer, producer, and director credits for some episodes of the show, has stated that Ash vs. the Evil Dead is shooting for a tone between the first and second movies, combining the outright horror of the first film with the character development that Ash experienced in the second film. The sho is also trying to stick with a realistic timeline, so Ash is close to 30 years older than he was in the original film. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Raimi describes the Ash of the television show with “He’s now old, cocky, and stupid.”
The first season with the show will run for ten episodes, each clocking in at thirty minutes long. Sam Raimi himself will direct the first episode of the show. Ash vs. Evil Dead will also feature Lucy Lawless (of Xena: Warrior Princess fame) as a character named Ruby.
So, on Halloween night, after the kids have gone to bed, have a seat and tune in to Starz for Ash vs. Evil Dead. Ash Williams is making his triumphant return, and you wouldn’t want to miss it. It is sure to be a groovy time.
